RM haven’t given away £1400 (or £1500). Their contribution was £500.
So where do you think the other £1000 came from?
It tells you in the first post.
The escrow account was funded by RM.

I guess it depends if you class an escrow maintained by the trustees of the pension plan, to be made up of Royal Mail money. It has been paid into by ourselves as much as them.

I'm not sure what point anyone is trying to make on this thread.
Of course it was a bribe.

Isn't that the fundamental process behind collective bargaining?

The company wants something and offers something in return (usually cash because afterall that's what we're here for).

Every resolution to every dispute in the history of the trade union movement has been a bribe.

Exactly. You might as well call the wage rise a bribe too. The only point of this thread, is to point and laugh at all those who bang on about this ‘bribe’ or ‘blood money’ then happily pocket the cash anyway. All bluster and no action.

No, the escrow was funded directly by RM funds and ringfenced in agreement with the Trustees 'In case of emergency break glass'.
It's in the annual report 2017-2018.

But I suppose if you class that because we all work for RM and influence it's profits/losses we have paid for it through
our blood, sweat and tears. Mrs Miggins posting her grandkids birthday cards has also contributed as well by buying a stamp.

Well, no, it is a more direct contribution isn’t it, considering we pay regularly into the pension scheme. It is interesting to hear that this escrow was exclusively funded by RM though. Have you a link to this report?

Like I said you'll be able to find it in the annual report.
