Free Legal advice through union

Can anyone tell me if this is still a thing. I know years ago I was told that through the union we were granted 45 minutes or so legal advice. Also if anyone knows of somewhere I could get some free legal advice about a legal contract it would be greatly appreciated.

No offence but with their handling of the dispute, they’d be the last lot I’d be asking for legal advice.

Exactly but the knowalls on here know better. Why they are still in this job is crazy when they could be earning a fortune.

Having had cause to use the union solicitors I stand by my opinion that they are useless!

I tried to access this years ago, and the legal 'adviser', who told me she was also a magistrate, was eating a sandwich during the consultation and not even trying to hide it. "Nom nom..well i'm sure..nom nom...it won't come to court...nom nom..chew...swallow...hope that helps."

Its free for anyone not just the cwu the first hour is taxpayer paid I think but they squander the time on drawn out questions I soppose its just guidance and not real help...hence the sandwich eater.

Entitled to your opinion of course but there is also a lot of people i know who are delighted with them. Then again like anything in life there are good ones an bad ones.no point in tarring them all with the same brush.

Most likely a no fee, no win solicitor is just as good, as at the end of the day if they think you've a good case they'll take it on, if not tell you not to bother.

Not yet. Have been advised to contact the Ombudsman in the first instance.
