It's because HMRC don't know if you're going to earn above the 40% tax threshold before the end of the financial year.

I don't suppose anyone knows what happens to any holiday booked? I take it because my entitlement has been used that's classed as it's been taken? I've only got a week left in between Christmas and New year 2023 but thought I'd ask anyway...

I've done 29 years and my notice goes in on tuesday as soon as i can see the well overdue lump sum on my payslip.
I thought id feel more regret after spending the majority of my working life at one company but all i feel is relief.
I hope things don't go the way we all suspect they will and good luck to you all.

Good luck. I’ve done 14 1/2 years. I’m Near the end of my 6 month career break. I am also waiting for my £1500 or whatever it may be. Then handing notice in before I have to go back on 6th November.

I failed my degree. Did a couple of weeks as a croupier trainee. Tried a few interviews, only came close to one job, that was for a chemical company as I had to wait 2 weeks for them to decide basically they tested foods and when they were out of date.

I know I will not a get a job if I quit RM.

If you want out enough you will get another job, If you don't that's fine but don't be of the mindset you can't do anything else in life, doing this job for many is too much for one reason or another.

So you failed a degree, and now you will never get any other work outside of RM?

If you want out enough, you will find another job, there are plenty out there, and plenty that offer the same money as RM but with a lot less stress and physical/mental torture.

All the 20 year plus posties who have left (something that was unheard of only a few years ago), almost without exception all have said it's the best thing they have done. Listen to them!

You would be surprised how many new employers are looking for people with a lot of the skills you have developed as a postman.

I'm almost 9 months out of RM and I'm earning slightly more now but with with zero stress, managers who treat me with respect and every weekend off.

Don't under value yourself. RM may have spent years making you feel worthless but there's a big world out there full of opportunities

I'll be interested to know if you get the money. RM could be awkward.and say you wernt employed whilst on your career break

I left a few weeks ago, and now I'm working in pensions for a reputable company.
It has been the best decision I have ever made, compared to RM, the in-house training and management there is no comparison.
I had 25 years with RM and no degrees, however set myself a target to find a new job back in the summer, with the target of being out before October.
Do not think you are stuck, there is other work to be found, with decent salaries and a better working life balance.
