Scanning out question

Post by eastie »

If you have finished your round say 20 minutes early on a light day, can you scan out early and get deducted the 20 mins rather than standing around like kids waiting for hometime?

RM would love the Flexi time arrangement
of pay being deducted.
Why don't you just slow it down, even return to houses with parcels which you could not deliver earlier, prep tomorrows D2Ds.
You scan out earlier and you will get more drops added for sure.

Seriously? You'd lose money just to go home 20 minutes early? Do you start work before your start time too?

This isn't a dig at you in particular but the problem with that is that it isn't consistent.
The same thing happens in a lot of DOs, Monday to Friday people complain to the rep that the duties are too big then come Saturday it's a different story.

I get that there's usually no D2D, I get that more people are in on Saturday and I even get that people are more motivated on a Saturday but... management don't care.

They just see the same guys who apparently can't do it through the week suddenly doing it in style on a Saturday.

It doesn't help the reps much...

What?!! Seriously??? Literally days and days of mail building up in many frames in my office, the jobs are all far too big.

People finishing early in ours, then just wandering out the door an hour early ignoring the piles of mail that need prepping. Weirdly the managers only call out the PTers for it. Been there over 10 years? Do what you like; in fact there are 2 duty holders who regularly "cut off" and bring all mail back at 1pm, regardless of finish time, then just scan out and leave. If you're on a 30 hour contract the managers make you prep other frames, take a few LATs or do general busy work while you watch them ignore a bunch of older posties just leaving early.

You don't lose money. They cannot take from your contracted hours.

They may deduct the time from any OT you've done/do that week.

Our managers have said that if there is no work, they don't care if we go home. Work fluctuates and laps is dependent on staff levels, so some days are impossible to complete and others you can easily complete with an hour to go.

Only lapsing is left in if no one does it on OT

So why is lapsing left in if everyone finishes early ?
