4th of September. We have been briefed by the business all units should be ready to go, I believe.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The op as you put it asked the area rep and office mgmt on Monday morning what was happening
Was told emphatically it was suspended
I was also dubious about the statement but I assure you that’s what our whole office has been informed
It may have changed as I wasn’t working today
Will update tmrrw

This morning both our manager and CWU rep told the staff in my office that it's being delayed. Like others on this site, I can't see it being implemented in some places and not in others. Somebody, somewhere is badly informed or telling porkies. They need to make the final decision quickly.

Our office still saying seasonal hours begin next week but also this morning the rumour of Saturday letters stopping in October finally reached our office.
The union/RM really need to officially clarify both these things, the rumour mill is in overdrive and it’s no good for anyone.

My manager told me this morning that he doubted very much it was going ahead next week when I asked him so these rumours haven’t been plucked out of the air.

The union and Royal Mail should be saying that it’s going ahead.

We should find out for sure today but the latest position is it's delayed pending agreement.

It's 50/50 at the moment.

Woody, if it were to be delayed how would it work in practice? RM have changed the hours over 12 months to align with their projected rise and fall of mail, delaying it would completely balls that up?

Official position on SV

Dear All,

You will be aware over the course of last week, that there has been speculation that the planned increase in hours due to Seasonal Variation as outlined in recent LTBs and as detailed in the BRT&G Agreement would be delayed until October and limited to 9 weeks.

To be clear, it was Royal Mail who initiated this approach due to their concerns over forecasted traffic levels and the impact of this on the operation. However, it would not have been possible to revise the commencement date without impacting on our member's pay due to complications linked to the PSP and DDS systems which would not have been acceptable.

As outlined above this speculation has been fueled by Royal Mail and their senior management team, the purpose of this short note is to confirm that there will be no detailed changes to the National Agreement of the rollout of seasonal variation and it will commence on Monday 4th of September, as per the National Agreement and as previously advised and reported to Branches.

Given the ongoing conjecture regarding this matter, we wanted to issue this note to confirm the current position. Clearly, this has not been a helpful development and is one of Royal Mail’s own making, but due to further discussions which have taken place with Royal Mail on this matter today we wanted to confirm the issue.

Accordingly, we are continuing discussions with Royal Mail on the details of the impacts of this and will shortly issue further clarification on this to Branches and members alike and further information will follow.

Any enquiries please do not hesitate to contact the department.

Yeah, I don't see mail volumes suddenly increasing next week.

Unless they found last years xmas cards.
