How many Delivery Offices are run by shoddy managers UK wide?
I've now left the job, would be interesting to know the sheer volume of utter dishonesty happening within Delivery?

Despite the deal uso being overridden every single day. Just the norm now. The only thing the deal has succeeded in is the 6% pay rise. Stay calm chill out and enjoy the outdoors. They can't take that away.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑27 Aug 2023, 14:12I've now left the job, would be interesting to know the sheer volume of utter dishonesty happening within Delivery?

The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another. Although some didn't seem to have any skills in the first place,

Yup, a few weeks ago whilst looking for P739 cards I overheard the boss on the phone "we're totally clear today"noggin1969 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2023, 15:49The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Although some didn't seem to have any skills in the first place, Most DOs are now run on deception, non reporting or massaged figures. The ones above know this, but if they don't look too closely, they get their bonus. So on and on up the food chain it goes.
In reality we failed at least 7 duties.

To borrow a phrase from my mother, he "couldn't lie straight in bed"
I have no doubt he lies up to his superiors, most likely to his peers, and blatantly (and embarrassingly badly) to us.
Even if we could hear what sounds like rain hammering down on the roof, which we often can with anything more than a light drizzle, if my manager said it was raining hard outside I'd have to step out and see for myself before I went to the effort of putting my coat on, such is his natural inclination to lie...dispite the fact that telling the truth would often look and serve him better than his petty stupid unnecessary lies.
The man often has a Simon Thompson-esque tantrum (there was a Workplace post, if you saw it you'd know what I'm referring to) trying to impress on us that he is in charge, however he has consistently failed to take charge of himself, the office or the staff.
He is a thoroughly incompetent buffoon who has no concept of accountability.
The first thing he could do to improve is just admit that he doesn't know something, instead he waffles some bullplop about how X is very difficult and it's the fault of anyone else that he can get away with blaming that something hasn't been done/happened, until one of us finds a workaround and manages to get that something done.
I generally have far more respect for someone who can just say "I don't know, but I know who might / where to look and I'll do my best to find out"
But I don't think my manager even knows that.

RM management needs a complete overhaul. When was the last time an area manager visited your DO to see the real picture, and consider the opinions of those who actually do the job, rather than a dodgy manager trying to save face by fudging the figures?

Similar in MCs. Can't remember when we last saw whatever title the manager has who's above the MCM. Depending on what shift you're on, it's very rare for the MCM to put in an appearance

To be fair I've had two really good managers in my 20 years, both of them had a pragmatic approach to the job. Sadly one died the other was fired. Even though the office ran well, upper management didn't like Thier way.guardianangel wrote: ↑27 Aug 2023, 20:03In my years i have never met one honest manager,i reckon they were always that one kid who got bullied at school.
That all ended in 2009.. Nothing but fraudsters and liars since .

Mine are alrite tbf. Pressures come from those way above anybody we'd ever see day to day. Ours knows that job and knock actually made people more productive, and has rued every day since they git rid of it. But those above made the call; not much they can do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It would be simpler and quicker to identify those that aren’t.

Like they don't know the figures on their laptop are complete bunk? The name of the game is ascending the corporate ladder faster than the hollowed out structure beneath them can collapse. It's Return of the Jedi as told by Ayn Rand in which a heroic band of Gordon Gekko acolytes outrun the fireball and we're all the lazy contractors left to die on the Death Star.
The machine stops.

That's because the MCMs don't manage the mail centres anymore, that's the production manager. He answers to the shift manager, who's in charge of the work area managers, who answer to the plant manager who the distribution manager works with. See where this is going. Too many managers doing sweet f all and getting too dollar. Get rid of most of them and RM will soon be in profit.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Aug 2023, 16:02Similar in MCs.
