2012 Van Switch over .

Post by comeracing »

I cant remember myself as 11 years ago, in 2012 Royal mail changed over vans from the vauxhall combo to to Peugeot partner, does anyone know the particular reason for this happening ?

The combos must have been dirt cheap, that shape (model C) was discontinued for the car version in 2006.

Same here. The new "green" RM are in no hurry to replace the smoke belching fleet of broken down old crocks in the out of sight backwater where I work. The last couple of vans we've received to replace ones that have finally given up and been carted off to the knackers yard are Combos from other offices that are almost as decrepit as the ones that have just been put down.

Until 2011 Vauxhall/Opel made there own small van. From 2012 they were in a partnership with Fiat, so their vans were based on the Doblo.

I'd expect RMs decision to change was made purely on price.

We have plenty of smoke belching 2008 combos covered in green algae. Our yard looks like a breakers yard. We did have a 57 reg until recently. That must be the record.

We`ve got mostly Doblos. We`re having a competition to see who can create the best eco-system out of the algae on the bonnet.

I was told that we get the vans for free from Vauxhall, Peugeot etc.

I suspect this isn't true :cuppa

The EV vans are 50k each.

Same. I always wondered if the company bought them outright like the first brick PDAs they held onto for a decade (more than three years beyond Microsoft's end of support for Windows Mobile 6.5).
The machine stops.

A few weeks ago, one of our small vans went in for a service and never came back. Dom was told it had to be scrapped because it wasn’t cost effective to repair. They told him that there wasn’t a replacement.

We have had the same but 3 van's in the last 2 weeks.Have been told no replacement so we have 3 p&l duty's with no van.
