Re: Motivation
A few things that may help:
- Avoid alcohol the night before.
- Make sure you get to bed early enough to get enough sleep and do what you can to sleep well, for example ear plugs, eye wear not eating too late.
- Reduce sugar intake and increase fruit and veggie terribles.
- Take multivitamins and maybe high dose of C and D. (I'm not a Dr!)
- Try stretching exercises or Yoga.
- Stay well hydrated during and after work.
- Meditation is useful if you can get into it.
- Realise the limits of the work load and what you can do, do what you can but accept that walks are often impossible nowadays.
Hope this helps and although the above things may not seem to affect motivation they may affect it indirectly.

Re: Motivation
Our main manager tried explaining to the area manager that walks were nigh on unachievable and was told "it comes from above, nothing I can do about it." I imagine that's the answer all the way up the chain to a sinister, privately educated posh boy with a computer....
I don't have motivation to work. I get up about 10 minutes before clocking in, make a lukewarm coffee and chuck it down my neck before I make the 4 minute journey to the DO. Sometimes I meet a nice dog or cat on the way and get a tiny serotonin boost but I'm pretty much "head down til home time" these days

Re: Motivation
Maybe not motivation, but whats the rumour about IDS not putting any more £ into RM ? Now a decent redundancy could motivate me somewhat. Morale at minus- just do it for the wages now .

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Motivation
My body clock at the moment wakes me up at 5am and I don’t start work until 1030 am.
Avoid alcohol ,caffeine after 5pm
Take Cold showers
Meditate
Exercise
It’s a boring job which can can be depressing ,I just try and detach myself from it.

Re: Motivation
I cannot keep watching Novecento, I know it is a long film. I used to watch it for half an hour at a time on VHS, then the dvd version, then the Blu-ray version. The boss is Robert De Niro and the worker is Gerard Depardieu probably his best performance. I used to love the folk songs in it. Also Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan used to help, but these things do not help any more.
But seriously any tips?
Though I do not want to impress the manager. The second you impress a manager they will say, "Let's see if you can impress me more...".

Surely the extremely large and very generous pay rise we recently got is all the motivation one needs to tackle a day in royal mail...

Re: Motivation
I just go through the motions unemotionally now. When walks were just about achievable I felt more motivated to complete, even if it meant going over a bit every now and then and going home a bit earlier on lighter days. But now with them being not even remotely achievable and coming in to multiple days of mail and being told to take it all out knowing full well that I’ll be bringing back, I feel more depressed and sluggish.

Re: Motivation
I just wake up and take a long shower. To be honest I'd wish a few work colleagues would do the same . Christ how hard is it to have a shower before work
