Is everyone going work 2 hr a week more?

We’ve been told today that we have to start 30 minutes early from Wednesday to Saturday which seems to make some sense.

That's not what was in the agreement.
It is supposed to be 24 earlier minutes for full timers and 10 for part timers across the board everyday.
Sounds like they are changing the goalposts slightly at your office.

It was actually the rep who suggested it. Monday and Tuesday you don’t need the extra time it’s Wednesday onwards we struggle with the sorting. The majority of our office single preps so getting the extra time on the busier days will be better.

It’s was never going to be one size fits all as long as they didn’t try to tag it on the end of the duty like some are.

I think it was meant to be 24 minutes across the board was it not however if your office is happy with the 30 minutes certain days then so be it.

Surely that wouldn't fit in as you'd only be doing 90 minutes "free" work for the 4 weeks that your day off falls weds-sat, mind you if your manager hasn't realised that then good for you.

Majority of the office are 5 in 1 so I doubt it’s too much of an issue. I doubt they’ve even thought about it I think they just wanted the easiest option.

If they start us 24 minutes early we will be out early bang in rush hour so those 24 mins will be wasted if they make us start 24 mins later we will be coming back bang on school finishing time,i suspect within a year we will be 9 to 5 and subsequent years until within 3 years we will all be 11 to 7

You have realised that if the part timers work an extra 10 mins they are over the break threshold and are entitled to an extra 10 min break..

A postie on a 30 hour contract of 5 x 6 hour days, won't reach the 7h 01 minute that would entitle them to a 40 minute meal relief.

Nah, as it's at the start of the duty it's more likely a way to cut down prep overtime, imo as much as I'm unimpressed with the concept of the whole thing I think the union did very well getting it agreed to be at the start, I'm sure rm would have preferred it at the end as another way of "chipping away" at our finish time.

It is only at the beginning this year, to help push it through. RM have sid it will be reviewed. Expect it at the end of the shift next year.
