We want to ensure it is fit for the 21st Century and better meets the needs of our customers – who are sending far fewer letters and more parcels.

Personally I don't think "because Denmark does it" is a valid argument but whatever.

OK. Fine. Bring in the five day service. However is that the end of the reduction? With this reduction RM should guarantee:

- no job loses
- no reduction in hours for current staff
- no coming back to the table in a few months or years begging for a 4, or even 3 day service ("because country X does it"). If it drops to five days it stays there for 25 years or something.
- anything else?

If RM want this there should be some safeguards in place for both staff and customers.

This is true the whole thing is designed to benefit the share holder/top management its set up that way now,not so much of a conspiracy theorie now as people were saying before the strikes.

You'd think no office would be failing mail every week then right?

The number of people processing and delivering the mail has reduced at the same rate if not proportionally a higher rate.

If RM cant get the mail delivered as it stands everyday over six days what chance do they have getting it all delivered over five?

That has been exactly my point to people in my office.

None of it is about a better experience for the customer because we fail multiple deliveries every single day of every single week.

How does reducing letters to 5 days magically mean we can deliver all of that stuff in less time ? It’s nothing more than ripping people off again.
