£50 per misdelivery! Oh dear, perhaps you shouldn't have taken hours out of the office then!
And misdeliveries are when you put stuff in the wrong slot on the frame are they? Well it's going to get
worse when you bring bench merging in then!

Doesn't help when you have half your frame with double slots with 4 d2ds x2 wedged in with mail . Plus even worse with 3 days mail

If you are delivering to 12 Acacia Avenue you check that all the mail is for that address.
When you are at number 14 you check all the mail is for number 14 Acacia Avenue.
It is pretty basic stuff.
What have double slots got to do with making mistakes on the doorstep?
A mistake that can easily be avoided by reading the envelope in front of you.
It is a bit like those people that can't read the bit that says Do Not Redirect on an envelope.
Do they ignore that because they have double slots?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

How much training are people meant to get? I started 2 years ago and was given all of maybe a week before they stuck me on a rural on my own with 4 days mail, new starter recently got 2 days going out with someone before they were shafted on an overloaded walk on their own.
I've never worked for a company before that just assumes you'll instinctively know everything; telling you to go "to the bullring" makes no sense if nobody tells you what and where it is, and nobody trains people to do IPS or sorting... Refer them to the boards and it doesn't help as the boards still have walks on that were absorbed 2 revisions ago.

Well if you're on Acacia avenue make sure you say hi to both Bananaman and Scarlet the harlot for me...clashcityrocker wrote: ↑09 Aug 2023, 14:52If you are delivering to 12 Acacia Avenue you check that all the mail is for that address.

Double slots are an issue if you have multiple D2Ds and are prepping 2 frames, it's very easy to shove letters into the folds of some ropey takeaway leaflet and not notice.
A lot of our misdelivered seem to come from agency staff who just trust that the postie they're with has done things correctly. Sure the packet they've given you says "19 filigree street" and you're at 19 sausage row, but last time you questioned one it turned out they always get their packets delivered to their friends house and don't ask questions and work to time, so chuck it in the porch and carry on.
Also the MC have been sending us packets for places increasingly further afield... Same packet for Australia came to me 5 times because the town in Aus has the same name as the village I was going to

I very much doubt if that happens 20 000 times in a few months.Kenfandango wrote: ↑09 Aug 2023, 15:01

Why is there a 1million cost to misdeliveries? People dont get compensation if their mail is mis delivered?

Does the local MC have a PSM? If they do it's probably been sorted by the machineKenfandango wrote: ↑09 Aug 2023, 15:01Also the MC have been sending us packets for places increasingly further afield... Thtat's what I was wondering. I think it's probably the cost of paying the @RoyalMailHelp twitter/X computerpieoftheday wrote: ↑09 Aug 2023, 16:07Why is there a 1million cost to misdeliveries? People dont get compensation if their mail is mis delivered?
work experience geek who has to reply and then the overworked/overpaid managers who just chuck the bit of paper
on a frame which asks what happens as their way of investigating the issue.

I accidentally pressed the vending machine button twice and it said error. A manager had to come and restart it. Total cost: £1m.
In the toilets one of the big roll holders has fallen off. There’s another £1m.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It's on here somewhere but I can't find it.
Many years ago there was a Courier article about misdeliveries.
What they suggested was to go through the frame before tying up checking each letter to make sure you had not miss-prepped any.
True story bro.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
