Network drivers are on fixed hours (drving hours/tacho) and they afaik get tracked all the way along their route.

We don't have porters, they very quickly got lapsed, then axed. Everyone has to get their own work and push it out to the door. Sometimes the managers will get one or more people to bring work in if the work areas are running low

Yep, it's a big door that leads to the warehouse. It can very easily get clogged up with yorks as all work areas push their sorted work out to it. We currently have to scan all the yorks of direct to hub Tracked. There doesn't seem to be so much of it now, given staffing levels in DOs it probably won't be too long before the hubs stop delivering it and the items go back to being delivered by their proper DOs. Whilst were pushing yorks of sorted Tracked and packets out, more will be building up on the conveyors

You've at least got job security in DOs, many jobs in MCs are probably going to be automated out of existence in the next decade. That same automation will probably eventually sort the work down to a level where delivery staff will just about spend their entire shift out on delivery

Unlike processing the physical nature of delivery means your job is only secure as long as your body holds out so no there is no real job security in DOs, we don't get made redundant, we just get forced out of the business because we're no longer of any use.

As a result of being tracked any deviation from the 318 is met with un unpleasant’Spanish Inquisition’ on return. Any pause on route or diversion is queried, and there’s potentially disciplinary action if one deviates from CPC diversion route at roadworks. ‘Move to time’ policy takes priority over moving mail so the business would rather see trucks leave empty and run on schedule than wait 10mins.
