SD items from Buckingham Palace

We have had a SD letter come in on the 4th July, which has a CR Buckingham Palace monogram on it. Do these items get treated in the same way as the Queens telegrams used to, where we deliver them if nobody's home? or do we treat them with the BAU P739 procedure.

Until i know, i don't really want to RTS the item.

Anybody know anything regarding these ?

If it is a birthday or anniversary card from the monarch it should say on the item that it must be delivered on the day.
The cage worker is supposed to ring and confirm their arrival.

If none of that applies it might be something else, (invitation to a garden party, notification of an honour) and should be treated like any other SD would be my guess.

Also if they get missorted to another office, the office they got missorted to has to ring up and explain what happened

It's definitely not like any other I've seen. No instructions, just a small off white envelope with CR Buckingham Palace franking sent as SD. Looks like I'll have to RTS it then as a BAU P739 item.

I've seen a few myself some years back. Apparently, they were invites to the Summer Garden Party and they're "just" normal SD's. The other type (100 year old birthday messages), have all the instructions you need for correct handling printed on the back.

Do you mean ring up to report the missorted item ?
Surely the only explanation is "some numpty at the mail centre sent it to the wrong DO"

It can just as easily be misorted at an RDC. They're very rare these days

I had a 100th birthday card last month and it arrived a week earlier and was just a signed for with a Royal Crest.

Charlie's office have downgraded from SD to signed for on celebratory (100+/anniversary) cards. They just send them out a week or so before the date. A real shame as 'on the day' delivery made them far more special and a real event for the recipient. Another slide into mediocrity for this once great country.

The old SW MLO used to ring the office up saying what was coming and on what TPO it was been carried on.
