I haven’t been part of the union for 20 years or so now. I was a strike breaker. I didn’t get to vote yes or no.
I don’t see the point in blaming people who vote yes. The deal was recommended by the union and was pretty similar to the deal offered by RM many months ago.
But I would say to people thinking of leaving, make sure you know your job. The management will look for easy pickings and if you are the sort of person that doesn’t like confrontation and feel it’s hard to say no when the manager asks you to complete then you may need the union. It’s still good for that.
Congratulations. I hope you waved your free shopping vouchers in the face of your colleagues and reminded them of the crumbs being offered by this company whilst managers picked up their £1k bonus at the same time
What free vouchers?
Not sure what the managers bonus has to do with anything?

I recall someone receiving £150 worth of shopping vouchers for working during the strike because they were a "non-operational manager". I assumed that posties who worked during the strike got them, but maybe it was just the indoor staff.
Don't you think it's annoying that this business rewards the managers massively disproportionate to its staff? Our Lino was upgraded to a COM last year and now picks up more money on £45k a year, he's had a bonus for working during our strike, a potential bonus for pushing through revisions even though we are failing the USO on daily basis; and now our deal - the deal that our Union made with Royal Mail - he's also getting a £900 bonus with us.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I wasn’t aware of any shopping vouchers, I heard something about them getting tickets to a theme park, though maybe that was just a wind up? Who knows.
And yeah, I find the management poor. For the money they are on most are not fit to run their office. It’s low quality management. And sadly, in a lot of offices, the union rep is in bed with them.
It’s why I tell people on here to know their job. Understand the terms and conditions. Mental health isn’t worth being strained because of bully management techniques.
