So I left the cowardly pathetic CWU and joined another union. The links to alternative unions to join are below, both offer representation, advice and legal help. Oh and they wont sell you down the river.

https://www.theworkersunion.com/

https://www.workersofengland.co.uk/

If you want to cancel your membership with CWU, just phone RM HR 0345 606 0603 and tell them to stop CWU payments going from your pay.

Please add other alternative unions if you can find them.
You’re playing right into the companies hands this is just what they want the CWU weakened you’re really not thinking this through or are you not able to?

They won't have any clout in the workplace either.
Probably not but at least they will have some intelligence
The vast majority of interaction members have with the union is at local or branch level.

Local reps and area reps are not HQ.

Anger at HQ is one thing.
Advising members that they would be better off taking some random rep from an unrelated and unrecognised union with no experience of Royal Mail procedures and agreements and no skin in the game would somehow end well in a disciplinary meeting is just dumb.
With all due respect, local reps know fk all

Whereas the local GMB rep would be well-versed in RM rules and procedures?

Indeed.
Leaving one (supposedly) useless union in a foot-stamping hissy fit and then recommending joining another union in the vain hope that they'll do any better must be this week's nomination for Net Stupidity Award.
RM don't have to allow a rep from the East Yorkshire Slate Cutters and Cricket Ball Stitchers Union onto RM premises to represent you in times of trouble, let alone negotiate pay, T&C's etc.
These unions offer the same protections that the CWU offer, the difference is your not putting your money into the corrupt incompentent overpaid CWU sell outs. That's enough reason for me to change union. If you want to keep paying Dave Frauds 150 grand a year salary, be my guest. By the way RM will welcome those reps in since the CWU are telling reps to actively help RM implement their agenda in every office. Again if you are ok with that great, but my subs will be going elsewhere.

Seriously, are you even awake? Have you been asleep for the last 6 months? It does not matter if the CWU know RM procedures one bit, because the CWU just agree to everything RM say. It does not matter if the CWU are allowed in offices because the CWU just accept everything RM tell them. It does not matter if an independent union can negotiate pay and terms, because the CWU just accept every pay offer and terms that RM put to them. WAKE UP THE CWU ARE A COMPANY UNION they actively work with the company at their members expense. The people who voted yes to the CWU sell out deal are literal turkeys voting for xmas. So after our own union sold us all out and will continue to since they are a company union now, you still want to keep giving them your money then go for it keep being the turkey paying money to the chef thats gonna cook them.

For everyone else who has been awake the last 3-6 month, just leave the union and join a union that is not a surragate for RM at least you will get independent advice and support from experts that know your rights and know the employment laws just as good/better as any CWU muppet.

The CWU are the only union recognised to represent our grades and like the agreement or not we still need the union to be strong and joining other unions will just weaken us all and prime for a major attack by the company. Any other union will not be able to negotiate for you they can only represent you at disciplinaries and grievances.Your much better off staying with the CWU and try and change them to what you want them to be.

I am not sure they can represent you. They can advise you but as they will not be recognised by RM they won't be able to represent you.
I have never heard of either organisation quoted in the OP.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Any representative from an unrecognised union is only given "companion" status at any disciplinary meeting just like your uncle Frank.

However the biggest problem would be accessing anyone from these pseudo-unions in the first place willing to turn up at your workplace at 48hrs notice.

Real unions do not like to step into the territory of an already recognised union, it tends to cause bad blood at the TUC Christmas party.

These are not proper unions, they are simply scams waiting for a sucker.

The problem is the Union is affiliated to the TUC.

This Organisation is overrun by Wokeism and Cultural Marxism.

Look where you subs are going and it’s not to benefit Working People.

My politics are centre Left and most people are of the centre.

So you're unhappy with the CWU, now you give your head a wobble and explain how any "outside" union could do better either in the past dispute or in future?

:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

Today's wordsoup winner.

I actually had to google it..
The term "Cultural Marxism" refers to a far-right antisemitic conspiracy theory which misrepresents the Frankfurt School as being responsible for modern progressive movements, The conspiracy theory of a Marxist culture war is promoted by right-wing politicians, fundamentalist religious leaders, political commentators in mainstream print and television media, and white supremacist terrorists

The Exec are ELECTED by MEMBERS.
Next election vote them out.
Go to your next Branch AGM. Speak up and request branch chair takes a vote in the room of no confidence in Gen Sec.
Press branch to back any same or similar motions at national conferences.
Hell TELL your branch to make these motions.

If you leave union, how can you do all of this? Other Unions haven't got any influence at all. Suggest it is pointless joining them for that reason. Your power is using the CWU constitution and rules to change the exec, not just walk away from the only collective bargaining tool available.

And that's what I pay my subs for.
People I can lift the phone and talk to, people I've met and know our situation and managers, not some beardy fool and his mates on YouTube.

At the end of the day we as a branch will have far more influence on how this agreement or any agreement affects my office than Dave Ward or Andy Furey ever will.
