Dave Ward saying they have mitigated the late starts as much as they can and are trying to mitigate it further. Also as part of the 39 hour working week they want us to start earlier as part of this so what’s going on? Can we not just have an earlier start for the rest of the year or will the trains be extra fast during the winter?

I feel for anyone having to get the train to work. But even the tube starts running a good 2 hours before your start time so you should be ok.

Hi there just a thought. I myself and loads more work in a large mail centre and had start / end times changes.
Also been taken off Monday Friday to fixed Tuesday Saturday. But with the union signing them off. So does that employment law not stand because most were bullied and pushed into taking the changes because management were threatening you will lose your job

I support our union but what the funk are they playing at???

Did you at least have a vote on it??

I’m not a solicitor, I only know a little about employment law from previously having 2 businesses of my own and utilising the citizens advice whenever I was unsure of a rule

I do know though that if you have been working the new changes without protest your employer can take that to mean that you have accepted the new terms (I think you have a period of 4 weeks but don’t quote me on that)

So if I were you I’d put it in writing that you don’t agree to the new hours and you’re working under protest and you consider it a breach of contract

You can get a template easily enough off the internet

I strongly recommend that everyone in your office does this and even though your union rep sounds useless I’d still discuss it with them

Also there are rules about bullying and harassment so that’s also got to be worth a read

He’s not got back to me which made me angry and disappointed

so I spoke with our workplace rep who informed me that our area rep has got on to him to get him to find out how many people in our office this affects

But he says that the managers won’t release him from duties to be able to find out

This is all a cop out as far as I’m concerned as I don’t know why they need to over complicate it

One of the biggest reasons we all took this job for was the hours and the work/life balance

If it turns out that it poses too great a risk to our jobs I’d really like to know that rather than them waiting for the ballot result

I get that they’re pushing the yes vote and I can see how this could go against that

But we should be allowed to know all our options so we can make our own decisions

So I think my next step is to compile a set of questions that I’d like answered and pass that on to our area Union rep

If I don’t get a response then I guess I’ll have to set up a go fund me page and seek legal opinion myself

I don’t think it matters if you are for or against this deal I think we can all be in agreement that we want to make informed decisions

I mean the legal advice could be negative in which case that could sway more yes votes

But to just fob us off is wrong

I’m really disappointed with our union at the moment

It would really help if everyone else could pester their Union reps to seek legal advice as well

It’s easy to ignore one voice in the crowd

Please people don’t just leave it to someone else
