Ignore us after a yes vote?
Ignore us after a no vote?
I'm not sure the whole "they'll just ignore us" argument really holds up for either camp.
If they choose to ignore us and tear up this agreement or ignore us and refuse to re-negotiate it won't really matter which way we've voted other than if we vote yes we'll have some kind of payrise and lump sum to spend on going to job interviews.
That's my point really Woody.
The game was up as soon as the CWU decided this agreement was good enough and stopped fighting.
The CWU have spent the last few months telling us that we must accept this agreement, or the Union is basically powerless and finished.
RM will have been listening, and now know that all they need to do is ignore the agreement after the Yes vote, and the Union is powerless and finished. Job done.
It is a legal document backed up by employment law. They can’t just ignore it if it is agreed and ratified. That is the whole point. The only reason they are ignoring the previous agreements now is because we triggered the clause that nullified them when we voted for industrial action.

I agree and I'm happy to be corrected here, I thought the USO was also a legal requirement and we're all aware that RM treat that with shall we say a little contempt so if that's the case I'm not convinced either.

RM are fined for breaches and have been instructed to sort their s**t out recently. It is fair to not be convinced but the logic of voting against an agreement based on an illogical presumption it will all be ignored is beyond me. How is not having an agreement and a pay rise better?
Wonder what if anything we can read into this.
The union will likely know by now what the early indication is for the result of the ballot. Although there's still plenty of time to vote I would imagine a big chunk are in already.
Will this meeting have two different potential guest lists?
Will it be celebration cake or humble pie on the menu?
I doubt a celebration cake and I wouldn't wish them humble pie... It will be what it will be.
But for myself there is no Union to rely on.
