The 6 per cent rise only

How does this compare too previous years of wage rises I remember one year 5 per cent,everything up by 15-20 per cent this year not good.

We already got 2%, we will be getting 6% added to our pay and a £1,400 lump sum if we vote YES....

I think it's adequate. I can't complain about the pay rise.


The sick pay policy sucks and later starts/finishes suck.

Still, I voted YES as I think it's highly unlikely we will get a better deal by voting NO, in fact I think we will end up in a position where the company is totally screwed and we end up stuck with no pay rise and a lot of job losses.

You think it's adequate, did you not spend 18 days on strike to get a better deal than this.

Good lord. We have no leverage. If this vote comes back no then RM turn around and say ‘fair enough’ and carry on regardless. They are not offering improved terms or further negotiations. Why do you think the union refused to call for strike action after the last vote?

Because they bottled it for some reason, nobody really knows if more strike action may have led to a better offer or not.

The train drivers have continued with their industrial action, although they do seem to be taking it a bit too fair now

RM probably can't believe their luck they'll only be paying a 2% increase next year whilst being able to put up their prices by 5%+!

Are you genuinely voting no on the basis that a better deal must be achievable because the employer tells lies?

I've laid out enough times on these threads why I think a better agreement is not only going to be next to impossible to achieve, it could risk us ending up with a far worse situation imposed on us.

What I haven't seen is a coherent counter argument why no voters think a better agreement can be achieved. It all seems to be hopes and prayers and little else.

And no I don't think 2% next year is a good deal at all.
However I suspect that Royal Mail might be in such a shambolic mess by this time next year it may be the business that regrets committing to it.

They have continued down this path even after the negotiators agreement was drawn up so the removal of Simon Thomson made no difference to the dynamic.

Why would I be foolish enough to believe that we would have anything other than the same s**t different day if we went back into negotiatons with them.
