Unfortunately I lost my keys last year, well I say lost they were actually stolen!
I had emptied the box but left the keys in the lock, realised what I had done minutes later but they were gone when I got back to the box.
Immediately called my manager, who said not to worry as they've probably been put in the box and would be picked up on the next collection.
Sadly that didn't happen and then the s**t hit the fan !
I was interviewed by my manager, and told to report it to the police as it was a security risk to RM.
Fortunately the box concerned is situated outside the post office, so the following day I asked if anyone had handed in the keys but no joy.
I noticed that they had a ATM outside the shop, and on checking his cctv cameras he noticed that a woman walking past just moments after I drove off took the keys and put them in her bag and walked away.
She never handed them in and all the locks on my route had to be changed, I received a years serious for a moments lack of concentration.
Hopefully yours will turn up mate.

You should have told them straight away. That really is dereliction of duty and I hate managers. Somebody could have found those keys and could open any box.

3 people have lost them at our place in the last 8 years (since I've been there), 1 was put on 12 month serious the other 2 nothing.

I asked a guy at Romec once how much to change box locks and it was averaged at £300 per box.

I cannot believe you didn't tell them straight away.

He did tell them eventually so give it a rest. Mistakes happen and he feels s**t already so you're not helping.

Usually in such an incident, you should search your van first as it can happen to roll into any the recess inside the vans, once a similar thing happened to me in an old Ford van it rolled into the rear light recess, it was full crap as well !

I just lost my collection keys. Not told managers yet. Will inform them tomorrow. Any advice please? I'm sure some1 has done that mistake before
How many keys have you lost and why wait to tell the manager, the sooner they start looking for them the better?
I lost 2 collection keys. I may have left them in the key hole. I hope someone hands them in.
I did that and kind customer took them out and put them in the box, pm collection driver recovered them.

If your on the last collections in a small or medium sized DO how does that work, as our manager's have long left the office for the day? In our DO it's down to individual OPG's making sure they return the keys to the locker.
