well here we are, reducing CSP times again, this is a Managers wet dream. CSPs have always been seen as surplus hours that could be better used on delivery, this has made me very bitter having to put up with the constant moaning at me by customers because packets aren't booked or opening times don't suit or packets have been door stepped or left in bins, I'm then told how wonderful auto redelivery is by a bunch of inept bullshitters.
Every day I stood on the picket lines unlike some of my colleagues who I might mention live closer than I do and I pointed out how quite it had gone to my rep about CSPs so funny isn't it that after the ballot paper has been out a while this comes to light now.

Was there anything in the negotiators agreement about any commitment to keep CSP staff? Can't remember

The deal only states no compulsory redundancies so if the indoor staff can't go on deliveries due to a disability and they don't want to leave the business, then what? Do they just twiddle their thumbs in the callers office or would they have to accept VR?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If they are not fit for any other roles surely IHR becomes an option for RM?

I'm sure that would only apply if you have had lots of time off due to sickness, not if you're still working? It just seems to me that Royal Mail are doing what they did to collections staff years ago i.e. have us empty postboxes, and then made them redundant somehow because their job was no longer available.

What next? Have us mop the floors and clean the toilets and get rid of the cleaners? Get us printing off indoor work plans and decide for ourselves if we can or can't complete the work and get rid of the COMs?

Does anyone know who is supposed to attend to the customers at the times the CSP is open? Is it supposed to be the com/com support or whatever the Phg/other indoor staff are called these days breaking off whatever they're doing if a customer turns up.

Would guess the 2 hours in the morning would become part of a remaining inside duty. If your CSP is one that will be open 4-6 would guess that would be covered by S/A if your office doesn’t have any inside afternoon staff.

Don’t most offices have separate entrances for staff and customers?

Yeah I'd imagine all of them but my query was that I wondered who'd be responsible for serving the customers during the periods the CSP was open if the actual CSP duty was gone, I meant at the CSP entrance not just wandering about in the yard but I didn't realise I should have needed to explain that on my first post.

Christmas will be a heated affair if the doors are going to shut at 10am sharp.
