Compassionate Leave
Had a Compassionate Leave request of one day to attend a family funeral denied but told ‘day off swap may be available’, although I’m not actually able to swap as I have a wedding on my day off. Just wondering where I stand with this? Feels pretty shitty.

Re: Compassionate Leave
You are allowed one day off, paid for a family funeral.
No need to swop, etc.

Girl in my office who was raised by her grandmother, asked for time off to arrange said grandmother's funeral and attend it, was told "that's not a close enough family member to justify a week off"

Re: Compassionate Leave
Same happened to me for my mother-in-law’s funeral - just a day swap. These people have no compassion.

Bereavement (other family members and friends):
It’s an upsetting time when someone close to you
passes away. Managers will do their best to allow you time to deal with your loss.
• Your manager can provide you with up to one week’s paid leave for immediate family, e.g. next of kin or
blood relative (spouse, civil partner, child, parent or sibling), to support you during this difficult time.
• If a member of your family, e.g. grandparent or parent-in-law passes away, your manager can give you one
day’s paid leave to attend the funeral.
• For wider family or friends, you can agree with your manager whether to swap shifts, make up the time,
take unpaid leave or holiday

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
