Sundays: why isn't this being mentioned?

As the op says this idea is a bit flawed as surely they'll be short staffed during the week, I'd imagine most with only just under two years service will be reserves but if someone has a proper duty/cover duty do they get kicked off their Saturday day off when it comes round, is this another attempt to get the Sunday lat parcels done on the cheap.

I do one a month which isn’t too bad.

Currently do the same, apparently the Sunday packets are increasing 10x as of July 24th due to new contracts

Wow that would explain it a bit then, but as I've said before why can't they adapt and plan innovative duties that people might actually want rather than just reverting to form like they always do and stumble from one f**k up of their own making to the next.

Maybe RM has been told privately behind closed doors by the government that Saturday letters is to be scrapped from the uso fairly soon. That has been rejected twice over the last year though so it’s more likely some managers just being twats I would guess.

I'll have to check the contract. But to be fair it says working 4 days but from the off I've been on 5 days. Just like everything else at RM, things in writing don't mean jack when it matters.

I'm more than happy to switch up working between Saturdays & Sundays, but considering I've not had a Saturday off in a year I'm not working both. (Should be 1 in 6) Bye bye to seeing the family and having a social life. It'd just cause too much stress time with my kids is worth more than any job.

Today i was on the phone to the mortgage people. Can't do interest only as I don't earn 50k. Ended up extending my mortgage 7 years until I'm 67. Fixed until Oct 24, then the s**t hits the fan.

Old style contract. Would love a Sunday delivery SA at I think £14 pound an hour, or nearly £6 per hour shift allowance on duty taking the hourly rate to about £19/hr.

They won't be paying that for Sundays when it is standardised.

So our COM and Union rep have today informed us that RM wants everyone who started mid-2021 onwards to work EVERY Saturday and Sunday starting in August, with 2 randomly allocated rest days in the week "as suits the company." This is meant to be a permanent thing.
Was this mentioned at all in the dispute, by either side?!
Our COM is not happy, as obviously it leaves them understaffed in the week, and those of us on those contracts (thanks CWU for caring so strongly about our terms and conditions! Great job!) are also not happy, mainly as we all have families and took the job for the hours rather than the money.

I will support you with a NO vote ,i believe its unfair and already the cwu are ok with a 2 tier workforce.

Our rep has always said you shouldn’t be working Saturday AND Sunday in one week. It should be one or the other. Of course this is a CWU rep so it’s probably a local/spoken agreement which, surprise surprise, Royal Mail never have to really stick to. Stick with the union though. Creating a tiered workforce since 2014.
