17 sackings in Birkenhead DO?

Post by Rumple »

Manager in our office said 17 colleagues have been sacked for being in the pub In uniform. Surely there is more to it than that.

17 blokes In a pub in RM uniform, sounds like a right crap stag night, I wouldn’t be seen dead in mine outside of work, how embarrassing, what if one of your neighbours seen you 😳

Just as well managers don't have to wear uniforms or a lot would have to sack themselves.

Think there were a couple of people sacked locally for being in a pub while on duty. RM have no way of knowing if any staff member in a pub has been drinking any alcohol during that time, which would potentially make them unfit for duty and potentially have them getting nicked by the old bill for drink driving

Sacking of this magnitude would have made the local news if not the national.

A quick search is showing nothing at the moment, knowing how socialist the Merseyside region is, even the local Liverpool Echo would have made much of it.

I take my uniform off at the earliest opportunity. I feel embarrassed wearing it, I can’t believe the people I see still in uniform with high vis as well walking their dogs or picking kids up hours after they have finished. Perhaps the job is so badly paid now they can’t afford their own clothes.

Not sure if the rules have changed, but I believe you are supposed to be out of uniform 2hrs after your shift. But if you do something in that time that reflects badly on RM you can still be conducted. OK if you pop in for a swift one on your way home, but don't settle in for a session.
