Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
Why start seasonal hours half way through the financial year. Effectively working for nothing.
Start and finishing times are still vague, and won't find out until nearer end of year, after result of ballot. Then flexibility element - which hasn't been settled.
Since the pension money goes to management, this is not part of an agreement with cwu. Should be separate.
CWU now conceding about USO. This is after going to parliamentary committee, and going on strike about it.
How long will deliveries be. This is given the supposed new indoor element.

If it is a No vote than the company can resort back to their original plan of cytherning our work of to owner drivers.CamPostie wrote: ↑22 Jun 2023, 21:16I wouldn’t be so sure on that.
• RM can’t just change the key things they want on their own because it would be breach of contract - hence why this £900 has been recently added as a sweetener/bribe.
• If a NO vote is returned, Dave Ward probably has to consider his position - at which point things stall because neither side has a figurehead to direct negotiations.
• BUT - RM can’t afford to have a deeply disgruntled and decreasing frontline workforce with seasonal pressure around the corner… especially as they suddenly start to realise that their imposed revisions and DPR’s aren’t working as well as they expected - so they impose some form of pay rise / lump sum for 2023 only and kick negotiations on these other changes into 2024.
• a NO vote also frustrates RM’s plan to announce the new CEO after a successful conclusion of this industrial dispute so that they’re clear from any association and can present a “fresh start.”
• a delay also brings RM closer to having to report to the market on financial performance. I suspect, they won’t be posting a £1 million a day loss this time.
• additionally, OFCOM will also be breathing down RM’s neck a little more soon as their investigation on USO performance moves forward - of course there’s not been a strike for months so they can’t blame it on that now.
This is the bulk of our work, this is our future.
Royal Mail would love nothing more than to build a workforce than just by its nature is void of terms and conditions.
A no vote would leave no room for reps to negotiate change and duty patterns that work around peoples family needs.
A seven till seven letter/parcel network with duties running throughout the day gives us great earning opportunity and satisfies peoples work life balance desires.
A No vote could lead the company into financial abyss, will this enhance our chance of an inflation based payrise or hinder it.
Do you think by dismantling the PEC and Ward/Furry the company will start to fear the union again.
These are the most experienced negotiators we have and that is why they have changed them on every front.
When the company started this systematic attack on its workforce Royal Mail had two main aims.
Smash the union and turn Royal Mail into a gig economy employer.
Monumental fail on both fronts.
So vote how you please but realise the a No vote is putting your destiny back in the hands of an employer who was willing to rip up every term and condition you ever had, and away from a union that has fought tooth and nail to keep them.

we have very few terms and conditions that most other employees also legally have. Paid meal breaks, some allowances and full sick pay. We’ll lose them all after this “deal” expires
A no vote would leave no room for reps to negotiate change and duty patterns that work around peoples family needs. I have yet to see or even hear about a single time that RM have ever allowed anyone, no matter what the circumstances, a duty pattern that worked around family needs, unless that family was RM. Operational needs is the phrase they just live to use.
A seven till seven letter/parcel network with duties running throughout the day gives us great earning opportunity and satisfies peoples work life balance desires. Except that will never happen will it. You’ll more likely see noon till midnight
A No vote could lead the company into financial abyss, will this enhance our chance of an inflation based payrise or hinder it. We haven’t had an inflation based pay rise. They caused this mess, can you really trust the exact same people to lead us away from the edge of this “financial abyss”? Especially when it suits their narrative that we face only doom and despair
When the company started this systematic attack on its workforce Royal Mail had two main aims.
Smash the union and turn Royal Mail into a gig economy employer.
Monumental fail on both fronts. The union leadership has been smashed and are now nothing more than company mouthpieces, with this agreement we will barely be above a gig economy job
So vote how you please but realise the a No vote is putting your destiny back in the hands of an employer who was willing to rip up every term and condition you ever had, and away from a union that has fought tooth and nail to keep them.there really isn’t that much more that RM can do to us before we decide to jack it in

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
Can someone write up a short summary of where we are now in this dispute? I have stopped watching these con men a while ago. I have briefly scrolled through a few posts and I can see that it is not going well at all but what are the sticking points exactly? If I remember correctly this "deal" was agreed at the beginning of may and we were meant to be balloted 2 weeks later. What happened in the meantime? No ballot, no pay rise, and new start/finish times "agreed", What in the name of god is happening in CWU?

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
if they get their way and secure a yes vote - everyone should stop their union subs and kick them all out of a job ! no need to have this useless bunch of tossers in the future , as they are powerless now !

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
Yep. In short, RM cannot afford a NO vote. It will be cheaper to improve the deal after a NO vote, rather than to plough on without an agreement with 115,000 disgruntled employees. Let CWU and RM deal with the embarrassment and backtracking after they improve the deal and find some more money from somewhere after the NO vote. It would be incredibly unlikley that they just walk away after a NO vote and plough on, they want a deal! They will get one, once they improve the deal after the NO voteCamPostie wrote: ↑22 Jun 2023, 21:16I wouldn’t be so sure on that.

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
I've voted YES which you can do online at www.cesvotes.com/cwurm
If a NO vote is returned what do NO voters expect to happen? here's my guess:
The PEC who have endorsed the agreement will interpret a NO as a vote of no confidence in them and resign, other people, who support NO will have to be brought in to run the union.
The company will state that there's no other agreement available and will start to implement the terms of this agreement, they will impose the 6% pay increase but won't pay the £500 because that is conditional upon a YES vote. The company will also pay the £900 back into the pension fund where it will eventually be used to benefit all pension fund members.
After the end of the agreement period the company will feel free to bring in more changes.
What are the union under new leadership going to do about this? they could order another vote for industrial action, but how many will vote in favour or that, given that large numbers of members are prepared to accept this current offer?
Strike action won't work anyway, it ended in failure last year and if there are any more I can see large numbers of people crossing picket lines.

Don’t vote yes just because they say it’s the best they can do. They can come back with better than this.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
