Is this not a forum for discussing things that affect our working lives who are you to say theres no point discussing itaiden01 wrote: ↑17 Jun 2023, 21:46How do you know it would not have been a yes vote without the bribe.might still be a no vote even with so-called bribe.11th july we shall all know until then no point even discussing it anymore.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑17 Jun 2023, 19:09If its a yes vote so be it, if people are foolish enough to fall for this bribe, because lets face it that's exactly what it is, they will deserve everything that follows.
I believe in democracy and peoples ability to vote how they see fit, the union and RM seen they were struggling and have tried to tip the scales in their favour, now that i don't like and if this was a election people would be getting their collar felt.
It has shown that RM and the union share the same morals deep down and are as bad as each other.
I will find it very difficult to keep in the union after this, even the legal protection it provides probably isn't worth it.
Shame on you!

It isn't a so called bribe, it is a full on bribe.
And on this forum, last time i looked, you don't set the agenda for discussion.
I don't know what way the vote would go without the bribe, but RM and the union were so worried they brought out the bribe.
There is something quite sleazy and grubby about resorting to this in my eyes. I would expect it from the company and would expect better from my union.

It is interesting that a long-timer such as yourself would consider this a bribe, when lump-sum payments have been offered as far back as I can remember when it came to agreements being drawn up. Did you also consider the free shares offered during privatisation a bribe? I hope so.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2023, 05:50As usual Aiden you don't really like a opinion that isn't your opinion.

Yes you are quite correct about lump sum offers, but this is different, its not being directly paid for out of RM coffers, its being cobbled together as a inducement for people to vote in the direction they would like = bribe. Worse than that the union have their fingers in the same pie.LouBarlow wrote: ↑18 Jun 2023, 08:08It is interesting that a long-timer such as yourself would consider this a bribe, when lump-sum payments have been offered as far back as I can remember when it came to agreements being drawn up. The union are here to represent the members not get in cahoots with these bunch of cowboys.
You can start quoting all sorts of past offers and lump sums, it wont change the present facts.
Delaying the vote for months, getting into bed with the employer to attempt to get a Yes vote.
The vote should have been allowed to happen without prejudice and the result either way dealt with.
This is not politics, this is ordinary peoples working lives they are messing with.
There will be a price to pay for this.

As for the lump sum, if it’s not a bribe why don’t Royal Mail simply pay it into our wages this coming Friday as a one off no strings attached nothing to do with any prospective agreement lump sum?
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

If it's a yes vote then deliveries are well and truly f****d.
When it comes to who is affected by the deal, it's probably about 90-95% deliveries with the 5-10% being RDCs and MCs combined

I'd rather spend a week in Tenerife than wander around a cold , wet shopping centre on a Saturday in this country. The job is exhausting but looking forward to a week in the sun keeps me going. I appreciate everyone's circumstances are different. But at the moment this suits me fine.postiewhite wrote: ↑17 Jun 2023, 06:12I'll be looking elsewhere.
I'm 50 now and I want to start enjoying my weekends. I can stomach a 2pm finish now but when half of your Saturday is going to be taken by work then it's a no. I understand fully that retail staff have to work Saturdays and even Sundays but I have friends in retail and generally this type of work will give you a weekend off in 2 or 3. We will be working 5 long Saturdays out of 6.
Its not just my selfish reason, there are people that have to pick up kids from school and there are people that will be forced to quit their job after many years because there will be no one to do that.
If your single, have no kids or bothered about a weekend life then it makes sense to vote yes but if your like me and you love life and doing stuff at the weekend then vote no.
It's all up to the individual. A lot clearly see the carrot dangler and when that extra money has been spent then you still have to face these finish hours permanently
They are phasing these week off every 6 weeks. Two offices I know have now have it in their plans to go back to 5 day weeks but definitely enjoy that while you can get it.
