I'm 50 now and I want to start enjoying my weekends. I can stomach a 2pm finish now but when half of your Saturday is going to be taken by work then it's a no. I understand fully that retail staff have to work Saturdays and even Sundays but I have friends in retail and generally this type of work will give you a weekend off in 2 or 3. We will be working 5 long Saturdays out of 6.
Its not just my selfish reason, there are people that have to pick up kids from school and there are people that will be forced to quit their job after many years because there will be no one to do that.
If your single,have no kids or bothered about a weekend life then it makes sense to vote yes but if your like me and you love life and doing stuff at the weekend then vote no.
It's all up to the individual. A lot clearly see the carrot dangler and when that extra money has been spent then you still have to face these finish hours permanently

Last night's start finish times are more if ,buts and maybe's to go along with the rest of the deal .
As for the £900 bribe, if it's from an escrow account as back up to our pension pot then they should leave it be as maybe one day it will be needed .

As long as people vote with the full information available and understand the consequences of both results those on the losing side have to understand they are now the minority opinion and accept the democratic result. Not act like spoilt children because they didn't get what they wanted.

People on this forum have been predicting mass exoduses from the union after every agreement and that prediction has been proven as baseless as the idea of a massive No vote.

The reason for that is that most people are smart enough to realise that even a flawed union is better than no union even if it's just as an insurance policy at local level.

This union is not just Dave and Andy, it's a network of support from local level through area, branch and divisional right up to national level.

When did you leave?
If it was after the start of April, it could be argued that you’re due back pay for the weeks you remained in RM employment. Whether they pay it or not, I don’t know.
I think the chances are they will say the £900 is only for current employees, though

My purely selfish point of view , I'll stay as long as they continue the week off every 6th. I'd rather spend a week in Tenerife than wander around a cold , wet shopping centre on a Saturday in this country. The job is exhausting but looking forward to a week in the sun keeps me going. I appreciate everyone's circumstances are different. But at the moment this suits me fine.

If its a yes vote you will waiver all your rights on most things ,it will be carnage and royal mail will do what they want ,be under no illusion a yes vote will definitely be the end of a posties job as we know it ,and if its a yes i'll be one of those leaving,no work life balance.

The war was lost years ago along with our terms and conditions they utilised our hard work against us all during the pandemic and before when the union did nothing about the working conditions bullying and revisions year on year with a nod of a head on the unions part.
Thing is this is just another shafting dressed up as a pay rise will it get through well it might just do that but the staff will leave and find pastures new as royal mail is barren and bereft of leadership and soon to be workers!
