Have had to take alot of time of aftermath of a failed op on my toes, this immobility has made my back ache much worse. The diagnosis I have is lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication.
So doing my research was very illuminating.
Neurogenic claudication leads to cramping and pain in the legs as well as weakness. It is part of a diagnosis of lumbar spinal stenosis, which can cause pain in the buttocks or lower back, lead to abnormal sensations, or cause the absence of sensation in the feet, thighs, legs, or buttocks. It can also lead to loss of bladder and bowel control.
If you suffer from neurogenic claudication and lumbar spinal stenosis it can affect your ability to work and earn a living. You may not be able to work a job that requires frequent bending or lifting, standing long periods, sit for long timeframes, or walking considerable distances. You may not be able to work in a factory or manufacturing setting, work in a warehouse, drive a truck, be a mechanic or a repairperson, work as a delivery person or perform a variety of other jobs.
Have other posties had this and what was the royal mail response, mine has been very underwhelming and no empathy at all. Talk about the dog eating my lottery tickets.

Re: Spinal stenosis_ symptoms and effects on the sufferer.
I have just had IHR for spinal epidural lipomatosis. It’s the same symptoms with back pain. Heavy leg that feels very weak. Constant pins and needles in my foot. Shooting pains across my back and down my left leg. Electric shock feelings also and it affects my mobility considerably now. I have walked with a limp for years. Suffered for over 10 years. Like your self had a lot of absences. Only after I was given crutches for my mobility did I get an OH assist referral after months of asking for a referral. Seems as if as long as I was turning up for work I was expected to march the streets. Oh assist after 1st appointment told me I wasn’t fit for work either now or at a later date and to phone in sick and get a doctors line again. Had 2nd oh assist appointment and was recommended for IHR.
