Re: 30 minutes flex if workload requires it
As most on here have said its optional and if they want compulsory flexi and seasonal hours your contracts have to be re written ,the seasonal hours is even tougher to bring in because individuals would have to agree to not get paid for 8 months and work different hours in different periods and you have the right to not work under those conditions and if royal mail try and do it through executive action they would be in breach of contract ,that's why it is imperative that every CWU member votes NO.Personally i think the union are up to something because they know this but have still had it written into this terrible agreement,so to all workers who want to stay working a 37 hour week you have to vote NO !!!!!

But what about your flex ?
They are saying no option.so ask them to flex on your behalf... They would have to agree, it's not optional after all.

Re: 30 minutes flex if workload requires it
Why flex is even in the agreement is beyond me. It's just another method for the company to get an extra 30 mins of delivery because you will only be paying for that back with less indoor time the following day/s.
It is only optional at this stage - but RM will want to review it next year.
I honestly can't imagine how deflated staff will feel if they are being pushed to work extra for no guaranteed overtime.

Biggest con going, open to abuse by any untrustworthy manager. Vote No!pieoftheday wrote: ↑03 Jun 2023, 17:24Ok so its week one after flexi time has been introduced and you've had to flex 3 days and your owed 1hr 30. You get asked to come in 30 mins late Monday Tuesday Wednesday next week to get your time back, however Monday is busy and you are asked to flex 30 mins , this happens Tuesday and also Wednesday so you havnt had your time back, in theory this could go on for weeks and you would never get your time owed back?

If the agreement gets voted in , flex is up for review in July , so a few weeks basically.postslippete wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023, 06:38Why flex is even in the agreement is beyond me. Agree with earlier post, why is compulsory flex even part of any agreement. Why would a union that is supposedly fighting on your behalf think it's ok to be told you have to do an extra unpaid 30 mins. Can't get my head round it! Why do they think this ok.. Basic of job, a start time which RM have every right to expect me to be clocked in and ready for work. A finish time which I have every right to be clocked out and gone. Union need to stop harping on about revisions and really look at this so called agreement.

Oh, my bad. So having made all the duties bigger the company now want to throw the 30 mins flex at us asap. Even more reason to vote NO

Thing is that many leaving it will be a case of making others doing others work and them finding better jobs than the s**t show we now have and that includes management doing our job's because of the way they treat the staff and it's new terms and conditions and contract!

Re: 30 minutes flex if workload requires it
From CWU's take on the agreement...
Regarding the pay&mod 2007 flexibility agreement, it has always been voluntary, the only difference now which was changed a few years ago was the 'has to be paid back in the same week' thing, I think it's the 'next 5 days' now so it could go into the following week.CWU wrote:Flexibility
Royal Mail Group’s original proposal was a suite of flexibility proposals that would have meant you were at their beck and call every minute, every day, and every week throughout the year. Annualised hours and their proposal on flexitime would have seen our members finishing when the work dictated by management was completed and you owing them time whenever they wanted you to work.
This situation has now been reversed. Annualised hours have gone, flexitime has gone, and it has been replaced by agreed seasonal variations - proposals put forward by the union and a legitimate way to align hours to workload – with you knowing your work schedule months in advance.
There will be a pilot of this approach to learn and hone the approach in a way that works for our members as well as the company.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: 30 minutes flex if workload requires it
Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis.
Individual circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual hours will not change. This means that individuals may flex their duty times by up to 30 minutes on any given day and this will be balanced either way over the next 5 working days.
However this period can be extended by local agreement. A local record will be kept. Any requirement to change times of attendance or flex will take into account individual's personal obligations and responsibilities.

Sometimes I feel that they can bring in any changes that they want, if we did not have to do van share., to me that is one of the worst condition's. Working 1 minute with someone that wants to rush like mad, then someone dragging their feet and the ones that say you better make sure all the tracks are done because I am not going 1 minute over my time and you need to get me back to the office on time, or the one's that bring their own car out, so you have to bring back the unfinished work yourself and unload it.

I won't be surprised that in under two years nobody will be finishing before 5pm.
