I have never used this site before but needed some input on ihr
Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems. Hope you manage to find a solution. It sounds as if you've been very badly treated.
GreenGiant & BoltonWhite ... WTF guys? Someone builds up the courage to spill their guts on a Public Forum and you two are off on a personal Q & A session! I would have thought you both might have some empathy as you're both OBVIOUSLY hoping for IHR as well!
You can Personal Messsage each other if you need to share info you know.
There was me thinking that sharing my experience of going through the IHR process, would be useful information to add to a thread entitled ILL HEALTH RETIREMENT
Heaven forbid that someone browsing a thread entitled ILL HEALTH RETIREMENT might find such information useful...

I'm not exactly sure what the f**k you're talking about. i've answered some questions here about IHR to the best of my knowledge on a thread about IHR. As for empathy? Well that's a matter of perspective isn't it? If I'm going through IHR do you think your little outburst has done my health any good? I'm just trying to help on here and you give me s**t for it. I think I'll just not bother in future.
Apologises guys I hit the new posts flag having previously read the intial posts.
It started me on page 2 with davidbulara's post about social anxiety. I assumed it was the intial post and thought your responses were lacking somewhat in empathy, my mistake. It had been a long hot day.

OH dont have access to your own doctors medical records unless u give written consent, an employee must give written consent to OH for them to have permission of ur records with your doctor, u can refuse and thats fine, they cant just give them out, plus it might not be in royal mails interest as it costs money for OH to get doctors records
i have suffered from social anxiety and not being able to go into the sorting office so royal mail had a plan that i waited outside in a van for a manager to have my mail thrown in and bundled up for me and he brings it outside to me about 30 yards away i also have to have someone fill the van up with fuel .....I know you may ask that well how is he able to do his round? well i do a rural duty where i hardly ever see anyone so that is a blessing but when the changes come in i wouldn't be able to cope..
Sad to hear you went through that & can't believe they are loading the van up for you. Sometimes these solutions they come up with are counteractive. If that was me I would feel even more stressed because I'm sure some staff would see you as a special case & the immature one's would bad mouth you.
If you're not ok with that loading the van arrangement, you should make the case it's making your depression worse as you feel ostracized & then go down the ihr route.
got the ok from manager yesterday that hr had agreed to accepting ill health retirement so he wants me to sign forms today but unsure how to deal with it because he said he would ring me today with the proposed payment....rm know that i have had this ill health (social anxiety) caused by a manager who left the business before he was sacked (coward) and due to this am unable to ever get another job! i have just turned 60 and been working for the company for 28 years also to add in 2018 i did take the early pension at 55 think it was about £15000 and £167 per month pension so have no idea what amount they will offer i do feel like royal mail should be held account for my being unable to work in any job ever again!
Good luck for the future. You'll probably find that once you sign the paperwork, you'll finish up very soon afterwards. I know I signed my paperwork on Tuesday last week, and my last day was the Saturday!
they have offered me ihr and yes i did get bad vibes from my collegue's thanks for reply
Glad they agreed to give the payout. If it's not around 20k, I would get in contact with the union rep or the area rep to advise you.
Doesn't surprise me about the staff cause I've witnessed it all before. If you find it hard to get another job, there's plenty of jobs where you can work online these days.

Hi all first time I have posted here reading the last post are you really saying that unless you are in the union you going to get a less favourable renumeration, I fell out with the union years ago because I did not get the support I should have got but that's another story,I am going through the final stage of Ihr and I would appreciate any guidance from anyone one this forum.

Not really saying you'll get a worse deal, but your Area Rep is more likely to be on YOUR side. You may have a decent Manager who will do his best for you but in my experience they're not normally interested unless it effects them
Typical example being transfering: The manager that wants you tries really hard and pulls a few strings .... the manager that's losing you normally delays and tries to keep you there as long as possible. In the case of IHR your manager's losing you and has nothing to gain.
That's why I suggested contacting the Area Rep. Good luck with your IHR.

Hi guys I have had sciatica since December 2022 and zI have been off sick to this present day. I have had numerous medications which have failed , saw a spinal specialist who said I have a bulging or herniated disc in my back. My sciatica gets worse with walking and sitting so there were no phased or light duty options. Been having physio for 4 months now and no improvement, told my manager at this point I wanted IHR with a lump sum payment and he kept ignoring me at first then he put a second referral into occupational health and told me they rejected it due to the company having no money. He then tried again and got my appointment her report says I’m not fit for work and they have just requested my medical records which I have consented to . I have called the union 3 times and they aren t called me back, Has anyone else got to this stage and what happened please?
