Long term in deliveries I think you'll end up having to chose between being FT but having much longer walks or PT but having shorter walks

It actually amazes me that the Union have not made more of the fact that increasing delivery lengths will cause so much physical harm to us. 2-3 hour deliveries for a 30-40 year career were bad enough but to now be regularly doing a minimum of 4.5 hours . . . Its just insane!!

The future Royal Mail will not have 30 to 40 year men in it. This job will get to the point where you will be lucky to to see anyone staying more than 3 to 4 years before moving on to something better.

I do 21 blocks of flats and I'm 62 , on a single person duty and have to also take the large parcels as well to the same blocks on a 5 hour round and usually only have 3 hours to do the round after meal relief.
I am a fit person for my age but I am limping for the last hour of duty then just cut off.
Will be going soon as dont want to end up with fooked joints for my retirement

Is there not any official/H&S limit on max number of floors (without lifts) we should be doing on any one round? After revision one of the walks which was about 80 floors in total (I used to do) now has 110! There's a couple of more blocks, but with lifts, but you're still wearing/tearing joints walking down of course.

If youre doing over 100 per day, 5 days a week - thats just too much. Its flipping insane, and i cant see how anyone could argue otherwise.

YES!!!! This job is hazardous to your mental and personal health. But the managers don’t give a flying Jiminy Cricket about how many flat floors are on your walk. They just want it done by you without complaining.

Absolutely. Not just in terms of physical hazards such as slips and trips, irate terriers or back pain from letterboxes 2cm from the ground, but also the daily arguments and gaslighting from management, not to mention the threats to come to your property on the first day of sick leave... The latter particularly is alien to pretty much every other industry, but is the done thing amongst the slave-owners/managers at RM
