The terrible holiday pay agreement.
Why on earth did the union agree to such a terrible agreement with holiday pay. You have to work at least 8 hours overtime, every month over a 6 month period.
I recently had 3 weeks of holiday, and didn't get any extra holiday pay for any of the weeks. Five of the previous 6 months, I worked over 50+ extra hours of overtime, so hit the target with ease. But because on the 6th month, I only did 6 hours of overtime, I didn't get a penny of holiday pay. The reason I didn't work more overtime that month, was because I was off 2 weeks of that month, and a couple of strike days, which ruined it.
I know I'm having a rant, but 95% of the year I work 50 hours a week, and seems stupid. I thought It would make sense that it was based on your average hours, rather than this system which means you can miss out just by having a few weeks off, or even an overtime ban in an office for a few weeks.
I heard it was the law that if you work more hours over the year, it should be accommodated in your holiday pay.
Any reason why the union thought this was a good deal? Any way you can get that holiday pay?

Yes totally agree another one of those now most frequent moments when RM totally have the unions pants down.
Why nobody in whole organisation couldnt see this holiday pay deal as what it is & speak up against it before being signed off speaks volumes about how this latest agreement got through PEC same way

Like we didn't get a vote on this holiday agreement did we? I don't remember anything. Just makes me think an office could have an overtime ban 1 month out of 6, and in theory no one would get any holiday pay. Its ridiculous.

Yes it's s**t, despite doing loads of overtime throughout the year I've also missed out due to having two weeks off in summer combined with not enough extra in that period, did something like 25 hours extra in 3 periods of the year but missed out by 10 minutes or something in the summer.

Re: The terrible holiday pay agreement.
That’s exactly what happened to me. A company imposed overtime ban and I missed out on 2 weeks extra holiday payment by just 2 hours. The best thing is my next holiday period is also covered by the overtime ban period. Just waiting on the rest of my office realising.carlosevenos wrote: ↑30 May 2023, 18:42Like we didn't get a vote on this holiday agreement did we? I don't remember anything. Re: The terrible holiday pay agreement.
Put in a claim with ACAS - your holiday pay should be a rolling average of the hours worked over the past 12months, holidays and sickness do not count towards this average.
The Union was utterly incompetent with regards to this agreement and it falls far below what has already been written into law.
It takes ages to get the money but you will get it if you persevere, don't let them get away with 'wage theft' AKA 'unlawful deductions from wages'.
You will deal with Weightmans who represent Royal Mail, they will purposely waste as much of your time as possible in order to run up their billable hours, ironic in the extreme.

Yeah it’s terrible should be a rolling average of your overtime over the past 6 months/ year really to keep it fair.

Re: The terrible holiday pay agreement.
wonder if there's a way I can make some sort of official complaint to the union about this holiday pay system. They didn't have to agree to it.
Really are a terrible union. If It wasn't for needing representation for potential troubles, I'd consider leaving.

Re: The terrible holiday pay agreement.
Never understood the cwu agreeing this deal.
The law gives everyone Average Holiday Pay but our cwu have fecked that up some members.
I'd go the ACAS route. I got it before the CWU made the Sh1t3 agreement with RM. Most of my office were too lazy to apply. Those that did got between £500 - £1000.
