It is having to move from the town centre

Diggers have started work ahead of the creation of a new Nuneaton Royal Mail depot and sorting office. They have been spotted on the corner parcel of land at the junction of Bermuda Road and Hazell Way.

As we reported in our newsletter, the current facility in Church Street has had to make the move to Bermuda because the land it sits on forms part of the 'Justice Walk' regeneration project which includes a £20m learning and living zone which will boast a new library, offices and up to 65 homes planned for the Church Street and Vicarage Street area.

Now work is well underway on its new home, which will include a warehouse and distribution depot/postal sorting office. There will be a new car park as well as a bicycle shelter with security fencing and a high-capacity trolley store.

It will also have a public enquiries office as well as admin and toilet facilities for staff, plus a drying room and a mess and welfare room for employees. While work has officially started, it has not been publicly revealed when the new facility will be complete.

A planning application has been submitted for the 'Justice Walk' development, but a final decision has yet to be made on whether it will be given the go-ahead. Along with Royal Mail, Wilko is also having to move - the retailer is relocating to the former Poundland and Woolworths store in Queens Road.

How many years do we all think it will stand?

Well, as a Royal Mail DO, at any rate?

I give it 5 years. Maybe, 6.

They're all off sick according to the spokesman.
Perhaps this is a hospital for Posties?
