Out at Last!

Post by General Mannerheim »

So last Saturday was my last service day after 35 years service I finally have left the business on ill health.
I signed the paperwork earlier last week when most of my ex union members/colleagues where out on delivery, so didn't get to say my goodbyes, but in truth I never want to set foot in the craphole ever again!
The only `comfort` is that I managed to get out before the shitty inferior ill health agreement comes into effect[vote NO.]

I have made the decision and it's been hard, but the time has come after many years of ill health, a tribunal or two  and then this year seeing two guys who I started with at Royal Mail and a couple of school friends pass away .it has kind of made the decision for me. It's morbid as feck, but hey i intend to live a few years yet and enjoy them instead of having to put up with management bullshit or CWU bullshit for that matter, and won't miss the old it's too hot/ too cold, I have not been paid my overtime routine, that the usual cry babies in my delivery office utter on a regular basis.

The first 12 years I really enjoyed the job, but it started going downhill when the 2nd delivery went and Royal Fail brought in Starburst :left: and covering posties duties when off sick or annual leave etc, lapsing is the biggest bag of wank in the history of Royal Mail and causes so much trouble for everybody.

I did 22 years on delivery altogether then got a really bad illness, my reward for this was bullying and harassment from management and then the sack, it was dressed up as `ill health retirement` and was done wrongly, anyway, I was out of a job until the CWU got me back on a technicality, I then won my tribunal case for Disability Discrimination and was `given` an indoor duty in my delivery office, even though I should have been given or at least considered for that position in the first place but the usual friend of the Dom got it.

The last 11 years have been s**t, I have hated most of it, I have seen our office go from one where everybody knew everybody and a strong office that wouldn't stand any shite off management to one of lameness and letting the management get away with all sorts or things, and allowing themselves to be treated like shite, the old put your head down and pretend you don't see the person being crapped on or spoken to like crap off some wet behind the ears ex part time postie turned `manager` who was actually s**t as a postie, really boils my piss and has gotten me in trouble on more than one occasion!

Even though I have been an indoor postie in a delivery office, I have never forgotten what it's like to be an outdoor postie, the job has changed so much even in them 11 years, when I was last on delivery we used our own cars(what a set of fecking mugs!!) and moaned about having 3 or 4 bags of mail to deliver, now I see what the posties have to take out in them shitty vans and the excessive workloads and must admit I've thought 1. `Thank f**k I'm indoors` and 2. How have these so called managers got the nerve to tell the posties that they are `lazy?`

So anyway that's me done 35 years or working at the same town in one of the biggest offices in the country , but not many will mourn my leaving as 137 others have left left in just over 3 years, which equates to roughly 2/3rds of staff who have either been sacked, got other jobs or just left as the working conditions and moral is so f***ing shite in the office, surely somebody in Royal Fail land will have thought... hang on a moment why are people leaving in droves in that office? The clue is the management are all bullying, incompetent wasters who couldn't run a bath, most of them are as thick as a Boxing Day turd and can't be trusted to honour the national agreements, and the workload, especially after yet another full revision is far too much for the poor delivery posties but of course that would mean them actually acknowledging that something is wrong at this office and with the whole revision process.

I will miss a few people who have endured the HMP Royal Mail`experience` with me, I only hope some of the old guard get out soon for their own sanity, but I look around and see a load of young people on crap contracts who are I'm sad to say are crapped on from a great height but won't stand up for themselves. I will miss the banter , I won't miss the backstabbing and constant cry babies all poking their noses into what everybody else is doing, I won't miss all the union crap either and glad that some other sucker will be the new rep in a failing downtrodden office.
I will always make sure my postie gets a generous tip at xmas and I wish you all the very best.
The General.

Congratulations on having survived this long!

Enjoy the rest of your life now.

Oh, and what you said about absorbtion, very true.
It's the worst skank I have ever known a company to foist on its employees, ever.
The CWU should never have allowed the bastards to get away with that one.

Well Done for hanging on so long. :Applause In any other business you'd probably get a nice send off pressie and presentation for 35 years service .... in the Army you'd have had two Long Service medals .... and you'd have certainly deserved them! :thumbup

It's a pity they don't do exit interviews where you could have sat across the desk from your Manager and told him just what you thought of him .... I think most businesses learnt that they very rarely got any positive input. :left:

You chose a brilliant time to escape ... enjoy yourself! :cuppa

I find it shocking that people nowadays with long service just fade away with nothing said or done. When i started in the mid 90s the older guys were presented with gifts and we all gathered round and they did a speach (whether they wanted to or not) lol good luck and enjoy your retirement.
