Why do the public do this to us

So I got my own delivery. I know my customers well. I know all the faces. I even know the names too.

Member of public stops u in the street. Please can I have my parcel.
I say No sorry I have deliver and scan at the address.
They make funny sad face please please.

Before I hand over any parcels. I always ask to see there ID.
I always give in and scan parcel then take a pic with their face in it. And they smile for the picture.

I always think in my head just stay home and be patient

What would you lot do/say ???

As long as you've seen their ID just take photo and give them it if the ID is correct its just like them collecting it from the locker.

They can’t deny receipt successfully when collecting from the locker

They can when the scan is away from their address on a street round the corner or wherever

Yeah I know,but if the car licence or whatever links up with the packet its obviously the correct recipient the fact they know you have one,your not meant to do it though all the same but he actually says he know nearly all his customers go figure.

It’s what the customer/business who sent the item can prove or disprove that matters when they chase up Royal Mail

And they can prove that the item wasn’t delivered where it should have been

Car licenses, pictures of the customers face etc matter not a jot

If the recipient denies receipt then the business who used Royal Mail to send the parcel will see it was delivered at the wrong place and use that to claim compensation or whatever it is they do before refunding their customer

Your correct but thats not reality he's asking what we would do as he himself gives them over as do I with the correct id etc I've been here 20 years and not once been hauled in as the id matched the customer so no complaint your just giving the text book version.

If you know them by name, just give them the parcel ffs. It's theirs after all.

Use some common sense and have some good old fashioned public service ethos. We aren't robots.

Our manager recently told us that a lot of items are cropping up on their system as not delivered at the doorstep of the address, it has to stop or there will be repercussions

I tell them that our PDA has GPS on it and wont let me complete the scanning procedure unless its at the address on the parcel and I need to get a photo with the door open - i'd love to give you it Mrs Smith but it wont let me proceed otherwise, stupid technology eh
