Overtime Rate?

Post by dougfunny892 »

I haven't done overtime for ages, but for some reason ended up doing 4 hours last week. When I totted up my wage it looks like I'm getting £8.50 per hour after deductions, is this right?

Only job i can think of where the overtime rate is less than your hourly rate , in London anyway , and then goes down again after 10.

It doesn't pay to do overtime in Royal Mail.
Litterally.

First 10 hours the rate is £12.40 per hour which is 21 pence an hour less than standard rate after 10 hours overtime it is even less but I’m not sure of this rate
The overtime rate is an insult and I know of no other large organisation that pays less for overtime !! It’s one of the reasons why I don’t work any overtime

Yeah I remember it being not so good, is it the the higher NI contributions that makes it so unbelievably piss poor?

No you wouldn’t pay any higher national insurance contributions it’s still 12% up to about £900 per week (we wish) it’s just the actual rate that is absolutely crap !!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
