Embarrassing

Post by coxie »

Due to so many job cuts, the royal mail can no longer using as many postmen over xmas pressure to send to sorting offices to do the xmas sorting. This has lead to a far higher number of casuals doing the job, the proper security checks i suspect are not being followed as I find it embarrassing the amount of christmas cards that come through to me each morning that have been opened and checked for money, we have the face these people when we deliver their letters. It shows royal mail do not care as much about customer service anymore. I know there have always been dishonest postmen that have done this too but they number of opened christmas cards I got this year is shocking.

Well you will find a lot are not sealed properly! I tend to tape my cards at the back as I know if you lick them they can come undone easily, now last year delivering cards that have being opened I got quite funny delivering them as I thought they maybe would persume it was me opening them up, so I shoved them in a damaged bag and delivered them that way!

Yeh use a damaged bag for open cards or if you can find some that special royal mail tape for stuff that has been found open.

I think ?? - years ago people were charged extra with cards if they sealed the envelope so the triangle part on the back was just tucked inside

RM are trying to go back even further in time .

Im a postman and doing what I think is initial sorting just now and to be honest a lot of the cards are already opened or ripped.

We had loads last year and a few now coming as though they have been sliced with a razor blade along the edges. DIM inquired and reckoned it's the sorting machine chewing them up - but what? a perfect straight cut edge?

If people send money in a card then have some sense and send it SD.

Same for me, averaging 4 items a day having to tape or bag up. Had a couple of empty envelopes this morning. It's a disgrace really, even packets are coming opened or ripped. And it's your frontline posties that get the complaints, tell the dom and he just gives you a blank stare. :arrrghhh

When on your jollies or out & about & talking to strangers, do you like me feel embarrassed and a bit thick when you say you work @ Royal Mail 🤡

There's one at our place who's put Royal Mail manager as his occupation on Facebook, can just imagine him telling the same to anyone he meets when he's on his jollies :chuckle

I sense the general public like posties, they probably realise it's not our fault service isn't what it was in the past.

A lady who lives in a (not terribly nice) block of flats I deliver to sometimes told me about how a cover bloke had left a valuable parcel out in her hall that had gone before she could get to it and asking what she should do. She was clearly distressed, shocked and gutted. How can you say to people "erm, get used to it..."

We just cannot get on board with the agenda of being cheaper and more s**t than the parcel rivals, it's a stupid, humiliating strategy for everybody.
