Signitures vs "DNS"

With the delivery changes I feel I'm being pushed to deliver 1st time & find/ invent a 'safe place' - i can do that, "under cover & out of sight" has always been the mantra but now are we expected to do Amazon style? Blatent door stepping lol? I can do that. My problem with 'leave with neighour' is that a significant amount of time neighbours dont get on, I have several calls where they have a sign by their front door "DO NOT LEAVE WITH NEIGHBOUR". My biggest problem is with getting Signatures - Special Deliveries Tracked, Signed For - is anyone prepared say how they deal with these? Eg if I speak to the customer on their Ring bell & we agree I'll squiggle in the box & post it thru the box thats not a bad thing right? What about less than that. My van share buddy has a very relaxed stance about this but I don't , I do want to leave RM but I want to avoid being fired for this lol. Writing "DNS" -- am I semi-ok doing that, what protection does that give/ when should you only use it?

I don't use ring doorbells if it's a signature item for that very reason, they usually say can you sign and post it through or put it in the bin.
If they start talking through the device because it's detected me there then I do my best max headroom/norman collier impression.

Never sign for anything Personally I never use ring style bell, I just knock. If they start talking on the bell, I just carry on as if I'm deaf, no point having a 5 min conversation about why you can't leave the item or follow some daft request. Just card it, 1st or 2nd time.

Well what would matter is there is footage of you forging the signature and putting it through the door - not whether they got it or not

Whats stopping them claiming a kid or pet destroyed the item once put through the door?

We are now supposed to take a photo of the special delivery with the door open as proof it was personally handed to the recipient - which adds another layer into the mix

That’s another thing that was poorly thought out. Why couldn’t you get the signature first, then the photo. Would save loads of time on my deliveries, so many Eastern European names that have no idea what a vowel is, I’ve got to take a photo then type in a dozen or more random letters with my fat fingers, while the customer’s muttering on their phone with their other hand out. The other way round I could enter the name while they’re taking ages to get to the door. All the time keeping an eye on my trolley so the local scrotes cant nick anything

TBH you can't win with RM at the moment, take your tine and get signatures etc and your questioned why you are taking so long when others can do the duty quicker but cut corners and then, if a customer complains, your questioned why you've been cutting corners as you should know the rules!!

Always choose the former

There is no disciplinary procedure in place for that......yet ( vote NO )

I card everything,always take about 10 parcels back and it wastes at least 20 to 30 mins and put it all in a trolley the next day and leave 2 bags,less walking and they make the rules of signature and out of sight undercover,if your ever questioned just invite them out on delivery to counsel you,they never will because they know if you do it by the book you'll be leaving 4 bags,they hate me but i dont care.

On my rounds, we have many a written request from customers to post/ leave signed for items and sign on their behalf. They sit in the frame or with the redirects. If a customer is keen on this, there are channels to go down.


On another note, everyone here is so good. Yet only one person I work with will not cross the signed for line. I've even been told to go back and post something I left a slip for.
