Customer chucks Mail back at postie

Post by John james »

This apparently happened in another nearby office. News gets round quick lol.

What would u do in this situation. If a customer chucks Mail back at postie ???

Could be of numerous reasons why customer chucks Mail back at postie.
Junk Mail lol ?
Mail for previous owners ?
Postie delivered wrong Mail ?
Customer having a bad day ?
Postie knocked door like a police haha ?

If I was this situation. I would choose the safe option and walk away and don’t say nothing and leave the Mail on the path where customer throwed the Mail then ring my manager to report the incident.

Walk away is exactly what I did when I had this happen a few years back, although that was just D2Ds. And the bloke found me the next day and apologised

I think the best thing anyone can do is not engage, as people who wear a uniform we have always been targets for the members of the public with a short fuse. Giving a response to these people leaves us wide open to either making a conduct worthy mistake, having to defend ourselves against accusations and misrepresentations of our words or actions or put us in actual physical danger.

Walk away. Text your manager as soon as you are in a safe position to do so. I know managers don't actually give a sheiße about us but if anything further happens you have some evidence to help you

Junk mail doesn't exist anymore.

It's all been paid for by someone, so it's "paid for" mail now.

Yes - just walk away and report the customer.

100% walk away, leave post on floor as it potentially leaves you vulnerable bending down to pick it up.
Tell manager at earliest convenience then refuse to go back unless an apology is received and leave any mail 'no access' or some other reason and let customer come and pick it up from callers office.

I have some type of fall out with a customer almost everyday, I would say it’s increased since lockdown & photographs on the doorstep 🤬

It happened to me. A lady chucked her d2d's in my face, basically. I just said "I'm not picking them up and they're yours, so litter your own property with them all you like." She was probably fortunate, coz the partner I had that day was an ex army hot head days away from retirement. I suspect he probably wouldn't have been as dismissive of it as I was.
