CWU's South East Wales Amal branch says NO!

Post by John Gaita »

My CWU branch is saying NO!!!
:Applause :Applause :Applause

From Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2420793 ... 401595199/
Last night the Branch held a Special Central Committee meeting to discuss and debate whether to recommend the proposed deal to the membership in the upcoming national ballot.
Following a lengthy and robust debate with a high turnout of our reps from all functions, the Branch Committee voted that we could NOT recommend the deal to the members across South East Wales Amal. The Branch Committee feels disappointed that it still does not meet the aspirations of our members and has a significant detriment to our future pay, terms and conditions.
Ultimately, it will be a personal choice for each member to decide.
We will put out a grapevine communication to all members next week and will be holding gate meetings across the Branch over the next few weeks

I understand what you mean, but have you browsed through the comments and replies to every single CWU post on social media? Or even any Royal Mail related post, since the deal was revealed.

Cannot get behind this deal for a few reasons, It is good some union people higher up feel the same about this in SEWA and it may convince other branches to do the same and not bow down!

Yep. Social media looks awful. I only know of 1 person that's actually voting no in my office though. Everyone else reluctantly yes. Job done

Far easier to anonymously vote yes than for people to campaign for a vote no, and then what?... strike? Not have a job? Hope labour saves us😂. Gotta know when to fold em

Social media predicted a Jeremy Corbyn government and remain vote for Brexit. You can’t gage anything on social media.

Most people who work for Royal Mail aren’t interested in its politics they just want more money. Yes will probably prevail but only by a 10% margin max.

You have your own vote no matter what branch recommends.
