Why did the person in question need to be off for over 12 months? (In order to reach the point of no pay)
She hasn’t been off for twelve months. They’ve included a sickness she had last year, but because she has breast cancer? And has had a mastectomy and chemotherapy and now has to undergo radiotherapy. Do you really expect her to come into work during all this or?
Don't quote me on this but I think the policy on no pay is after 12 months in the previous four years so, for example, three months per year over four years would put you on no pay.

Yes so she has been off for a year altogether but that’s not the point we arguing we are arguing about her literally being between and life and death and they’re being twats and not paying but yes she’s been off for 6 months fighting cancer any other reason before that isn’t relevant to anyone tbh so I didn’t find your comment very appropriate
[/quote]
So only off for 6 months with cancer then?
The previous 6 months absence in the preceding qualifying year must have been for another undisclosed reason then.
What we have is an example of the “totting up” sickness procedure for 2 different reasons over 2 years.

Our lovely friend and fellow postie is currently off sick with breast cancer which was diagnosed last year however she has reached the point of no pay now and is on no pay apart from the help of ESA
She starts radiotherapy next week after having her mastectomy but is looking at coming back to work during it. We don’t want that. Is there any chance you could help? Even spare a few pound just so she doesn’t have to worry about coming back whilst fighting cancer.

Cancer - the clue is in the title of the thread, anything else is Medically confidential.
Only off for 6 months with Cancer v

If you are going to allow threads asking for money then at least let’s have some clarity.

How insensitive can you be? This is a thread which YOU have taken off-topic.
If you were concerned or had questions it would have been better to either start a new thread or PM the OP.
I post this fairly often. We prefer people to start a new thread if it is likely to take a subject off-topic. Your question did. All we ask is for a bit of sensitivity.

And all i asked for was some clarity regarding the expiration of sick pay so i could make an informed judgement on wether to donate money.
Just because someone uses the word "Cancer" it does not get to automaticaly shut down any debate or relevant line of questioning.
And are people seriously arguing for 1 person to recieve 18 months sick pay whilst the other 114,999 recieve the standard 12 months?
Seriously what is wrong with you? She’s had non stop chemo and a mastectomy. We are well aware of the policy, we are just asking for help for her so she can live whilst going through all this and now it’s spread on her most recent mri so she won’t be coming back yet. We’re not asking Royal Mail to pay her we are just asking for help. But also think the lack of communication she had to then just go straight to no pay is appalling. Don’t donate if you’re going to be like this it’s simple as
Just to be clear....the "why did the person.........." question was NOT my quote. It was a quote from someone else. My quote explained the 12 months in four years bit and I didn't comment on the specifics.
I know sorry. That person made me angry and I’d just pressed reply x

Then don’t call RM “Twats” for not paying above 12 months sick pay.
Nobody gets more than 12 months sick pay.
What has actually happened her is someone thought that they were “ON” for 12 months sick pay (having previously had 6 months unrelated sick in the preceding year)
then got a shock when they realised that it would be counted going back 4 yrs.
So……
Go beg somewhere else and don’t think by shrieking words like “cancer” & “Mastectomy” that you will get to shut down any debate and command cash donations.
It's not for you to say, who they ask for donations. Do you own this site?
If people want to give, then give. If people don't, then don't. I will admit, there are a lot of people making a lot of money out of these sites, unscrupulously.
As it stands, Royal Mail do have a very good sick policy for now, but people don't understand how it fully works.

Begging threads should not be allowed unless independently verified and background checked by Occpational Health.
We DONT need to know the details but we DO need to know if we are being extorted or emotively hoodwinked.
I'll change it for you.... Begging threads should not be allowed unless independently verified and background checked by the mods of this site.
The second, I agree with in a way. We DO need to know what we are giving money to and if it's legit.
