Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
Today and yesterday were worse than Christmas.
I don't see how automatic redelivery benefits anyone.
If the item could have been safeplaced or delivered on day 1 it would have been delivered on day 1.
The only reason it would go out on day 2 would be 1) customer not in and 2) needs signature or can't be safeplaced
So on day 2 the chances of the customer being in if they weren't in on day 1 are slim, and what you get is posties having to basically do the same thing twice for no reason.
As a customer I don't want next day redelivery, because I can't just book a redelivery and I can't pick it up from the CSP, I have to wait until after the second attempt, so this just means I have to wait longer for my packet.
As a postie I am now taking out 20-30% extra parcels most days compared to before.
I was an hour over my time the last 2 days and that won't be tolerated much longer.

Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
My van share partner and I have only returned 2 items to the CSP this week.
Only 2 items ( both Special Deliveries) that double failed.
That means a whole lot less booking in, putting away on shelves, dealing with redelivery requests, serving customers etc.
It seems it benefits RM greatly.

Crazy amounts the last couple of days. And yet the manager claims it's not busy and questioning us not clearing. He got his arse kicked from higher up about the failures in our office as they claim it's not that busy and we should be clear

You must rarely bring anything back at all then ?clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 16:10My van share partner and I have only returned 2 items to the CSP this week.

The argument of saved hours in callers offices and handling is null and void IMO when you consider all the posties up and down the land handling items twice, writing duplicate cards daily and like many have touched on the chances of someone who is regularly not in through the week being in the day after is very slim. Rounds are unachievable as it is and then Posties having more work/prep/handling means less delivery is completed and in turn more spent with agency cleaning up etc.

At our DO, we are going back to the old system already as apparently, there have been glitches and it’s not working properly, until further notice. We’ve been ‘trained ‘ how to do this in the indoor section on the PDA. Unbelievable.

Sticking a sticker on isn't comparable to booking in and putting away. only for the very same parcel to be removed from the shelf and put out for redelivery or handed over to the customer.Racingpostie wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:28

In the future people will understand that they need to book a redelivery or nominate a safe place/neighbour.

Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
Most deliveries bring half a bag or more back, some people could only do the parcels today only one bag of mail one of my colleagues was telling me and its his regular duty.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 16:10My van share partner and I have only returned 2 items to the CSP this week.

Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
I wrote out about 20 cards today (city centre job, no safeplaces, rough areas/estates, can't try neighbours), at least half of those were from yesterday. We have always been told 3 minutes per attendance call, that is management's figure, not mine. That doesn't even count (the small proportion of) those packets from yesterday that I actually managed to get rid of today.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 19:18Sticking a sticker on isn't comparable to booking in and putting away. only for the very same parcel to be removed from the shelf and put out for redelivery or handed over to the customer.

Majority of pairings are around 1600 nowadays, buggar that one of 2,500 calls - show me the paperwork that says it can be done, rantings of a lunatic. Biggest problems having no room for the extra 4-500 houses' packets, and the double slot frames, annoying. One duty of 690 and 910 , usually do one duty and then the other, get your post every other day you lucky people.

We can't but do they care?ted_e_bear wrote: ↑04 May 2023, 20:43Wow that sounds horrendous d2ds must be shite, round my way it's mainly estates with gates/driveways/steps/paths plus some "posher" larger detached houses all long drives, with that many calls you've got I'd hope the whole duty is like coronation street or how the f*** are you supposed to do it.

Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
Have they started to merge pairs of walks at your DO? Locally at least 2 DOs have already merged half of their walks (we can tell from the number of walks on each CSS batch)ANDREW CROCOMBE wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 21:32Majority of pairings are around 1600 nowadays, buggar that one of 2,500 calls - show me the paperwork that says it can be done, rantings of a lunatic. Yeah about a month ago, 37,41, was buggered up, then altered to add 35, all because management are trying to put roads closer together as a solution (not) their problem after taking 15 duties away.

Re: Horrendous amount of parcels
Anyone else got redeliveries showing up as 1st time attempts on the PDA? I thought perhaps we had screwed something up due to, you know, the total lack of training. Then I remembered all the previous botched updates.
The machine stops.
