Hi.
I’m currently on 35 hours and been on my own walk for 2 years. With the revision I have been told I can’t pick my own walk although it’s still available as it’s part time

At first I was told I have to pick a group (5 walk rotation) and would be made up to 37 hours if I do so. If not I would stay on 35 hours and go back to floating after 12 years service. I asked why can’t I pick my own walk, and was told if I go down to 30 hours I can stay on it. Obviously I didn’t want to do that so today I agreed to do the group and up my hours to 37 hours. Problem is the guy that picked after me on seniority managed to stay on his own walk and stay on 35 hours not 30. He said he couldn’t do the remaining group left as it involved later start and finish times (replen duty) so was able to pick a walk. This as pissed me off as the goal posts keep changing during the re-pick and I feel I’ve been blackmailed into picking a group by offering 37 hours and not giving me an alternative to pick my walk without going down to 30 hours.
Do I request to pick my own walk and stay on 35 hours (as the guy after me on the pick has been given) or just keep the 37 hour contract and stay in the group???
Apart from the obvious extra 2 hours which come in useful when I’m on rest week or annual leave, are there any other benefits to make it worthwhile? I.e pension and bonus for example as I’m currently on pro rata. Can’t imagine the difference would be much though?
