Colleague off with cancer-no pay- can you help?

Post by Leannej3 »

Hi everyone!

Our lovely friend and fellow postie is currently off sick with breast cancer which was diagnosed last year however she has reached the point of no pay now and is on no pay apart from the help of ESA
She starts radiotherapy next week after having her mastectomy but is looking at coming back to work during it. We don’t want that. Is there any chance you could help? Even spare a few pound just so she doesn’t have to worry about coming back whilst fighting cancer.

Thank you for your support

Done. You would think a company would help their workers properly in such circumstances, not royal mail though, scumbags. I wish her all the best.

Thank you so much. Yeah they’re including another time she was off which hasn’t been this year so makes no sense. She’s got to worry about this on top of fighting cancer it’s a joke

Thanks for the support xx

Sorry to hear this, Cancer is devastating.
Ask your colleague to contact the job centre. She should qualify for Employment support allowance (ESA) and as it is a cancer she is classed as disabled and this has to be taken into consideration if she returns to work.
Also contact Macmillan cancer support, they are a massive help. I hope she gets the help she needs and good luck.

Thank you everyone. She’s been in touch and is receiving ESA she’s actually currently on no pay which I didn’t think was the case but she’s receiving nothing except esa now and she’s spoke to her macmillan nurse they’ve done everything they can and I’m going to message the Roland hill trust now x

Thank you for your support and help x
