Do u work overtime ??? (Early prep, Ips, Work day off, Extend)
Like the title says. Simple question.
I work overtime and do all overtime IPS and work day off and extend (I always try clear my delivery) (On a rare occasion if I am on packets previous day) (then next day I prob leave 1 row)
Our office start time is 7am. But I come in at 6am do IPS mail sorting or early prep. Mostly IPS

Re: Do u work overtime ??? (Early prep, Ips, Work day off, Extend)
No, I don’t do any overtime, in fact, apart from the SA’s in the afternoon up the whole office doesn’t do overtime. Might have something to do with RM’s overtime ban following our brutal revision. No early IPS, no extended delivery, no rest day working, no duty in our office has been USO compliant since the start of March, which completely coincidentally was when our revision went live

I don’t work any overtime partly because I don’t need the extra money and partly because I refuse to work for less money than standard pay first 10 hours overtime rate is 21 pence an hour less than standard I don’t know of any other company that offers such a terrible rate?

This was my answer apart from I actually really need the money but I just do without. Why would I work extra for less.If you work your day off after deductions it's roughly £60 for giving up your day off.Wat69 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 06:36I don’t work any overtime partly because I don’t need the extra money and partly because I refuse to work for less money than standard pay first 10 hours overtime rate is 21 pence an hour less than standard I don’t know of any other company that offers such a terrible rate?

I’m part time still so always booking time. Think the least I’ve done in a week is 4 hours and that was when we had the ban! Usually end up doing around 8 hours a week.

Nope. I don’t do any at all and haven’t for about 13 years or so.
I come in on time , use all correct delivery methods and finish on time.
I don’t in any way begrudge people doing ot unless they’re cutting corners and giving time away for free because it has and keeps losing people jobs.

I work four days, Tuesday and Wednesday off. Sometimes I extend but never on a Saturday. I also do SA on Monday and Friday. I occasionally work my day(s) off, but enjoy having three days off generally as in this job you need rest time. I know some guys who work seven days every week-don’t know his they do it.

Re: Do u work overtime ??? (Early prep, Ips, Work day off, Extend)
I don't do any OT since the Strikes. Before I used to finish off the few streets that were left (my duty has always been historically oversized ... and that was before the Revision)
I do claim some overtime, due to having to throw off the mail I bring back before I go home! COM says we can't leave it in the frame (although you know first thing if you're going to have time to deliver it) so we take it for a ride and then throw it off again when we get back .... costing more OT
The OT rate is crap and I often thing that the CWU would have been better off fighting for Realistic OT rates years ago!
It would have had the knock on effect of RM not wanting to pay Realistic OT and therefore recruiting more staff. Instead they're happy to pay out hardly any extra (saving NIC, Holidays, Pensions etc) and they still cant run a profitable business ... Morons!
In my DO we have the usual situation: PTers having to work extra hours, because really they need a FT job, and at the opposite end Long Timers who have a cushy number kicking the ass out of the system and working 14 hrs OT (and still finishing early)

I never heard of 4 working days in royal mail lol.
Royal Mail workers usually work Monday - Saturday with 1 rotating day off

Re: Do u work overtime ??? (Early prep, Ips, Work day off, Extend)
I never use to do overtime but do at the moment trying to build a nest egg in case we are out again so as to ride the strikes.
But got to say it’s hard doing it as the place is so depressing at the moment.
We have had a revision and it’s totally unsuccessful at the moment as duties are way to big and that’s whilst the Mail is dead
who knows what it will be like when it picks up
