The Great Seasonal Variation con
Remember Thompson and McAuley were selling this last year as we would be finishing early in the summer and give us more time for family in the afternoons etc etc
Turns out we are only finishing 10 minutes early next summer AND the later starts will have already been implemented by then
Meaning we will likely be finishing 10 minutes earlier than 15:30 at best and potentially still after 4pm or later
The reality is we will still be finishing much later next summer than this summer
Still less family time in the afternoons and still delivering near the hottest part of the day

Re: The Great Seasonal Variation con
No this is not the case.
Royal Mail last year proposed to introduce annualised hours which would be linked to Siso and you would be required to complete you duty. This was called flexi bank.
None of that is in the agreement. Instead you have seasonal variations which commence from September 2023 and finishes September 2024.
This means :
15 weeks working at 39 hours , 24 mins per day for full timers before your duty.
22 weeks working at 37 hours
Then next summer 15 weeks working at 35 hours per week. This will be on the basis of 10 minutes later start and 14 minutes earlier finish.
This means all hours are balanced across the September to September period.
For part timers they will increase their daily attendance by 10 minutes per day in the 15 weeks of peak and reduce by 10 minutes per day in summer.
There will be a pilot of 10 units this summer to ensure it reduces absorption in the summer and any further lessons to be learnt.

Yes but your work less in the summer to get your Wally week which may be a 39 hour Wally week if it crossed over in the the peak period.

I am part time and will be finishing 10 minutes earlier next summer with later starts already having been implemented in early 2024Martin Walsh wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 14:46No this is not the case.

So it’s not wrong
What time do you think I’ll be finishing next summer?
The point is that we will be finishing 10 minutes early in summer but all our base start times will have already moved later so the reality is I will be finishing 10 mins early from a finish time that could be 4pm - not 10 minutes earlier than the current finish time of before 3pm
We are all due to have our base start times, from which we would move up and down dependant on the season, moved later before next summer

You work 24 minutes more in the winter. In the summer although your duty span is 24 minutes less, on our duties 3 days of the week it takes us below 7 hours so we lose 10 minutes meal relief so we are actually only working 14 minutes less. Not great at all.

Re: The Great Seasonal Variation con
Ok Martin so how does it work when in the so called light period in the summer we are extending by 30 mins to 60 mins every day
Season hours can’t work because every finishes at different times
Winners and losers again
No f**k it I’m just voting no
Like 90% of my office

And when the roadshow starts up to try and convince everyone to accept agreement I will make sure they are aware of the realities of what it means

Re: The Great Seasonal Variation con
Also Martin you said the 30 minute Flex is not compulsory but being reviewed.
Why ? Is it to make it compulsory?
I cannot vote yes to agreements that are being up for review as they could change after we vote.
To be fair I can't vote yes to this anyway.

Are we going to get an updated spreadsheet for start and finish times before voting?

Say what!Martin Walsh wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 14:46There will be a pilot of 10 units this summer to ensure it reduces absorption in the summer and any further lessons to be learnt.
What's the point in a pilot to see if it reduces absorption?
Thanks to the revisions we have had 40 minutes of delivery added to our frames, which also means around 20 minutes more prep..... therefore we either leave or bring back 60 minutes worth of work each day. If we bring it back then that means 10 minutes the next day to put it back in the frame and that we leave 1 hour, 10 minutes worth of work the next day.
There's no absorption to reduce!
The company is being run by imbeciles.

Why is the onus on us to work the 39 hours first and trust they don’t move the goalposts next spring?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 14:46No this is not the case.

Soft launch, adding the extra time to the beginning of the shift. We no full well they plan to move it to the end after year 1. Add to later start times and the 'to be reviewed' voluntary flex, which they will be keen for you to do with the size of the rounds now.
I'm turning purple!
