Re: 1500 back on table
The £1500 / £500 choice would depend on your circumstances.
1. If you do overtime and are planning to stay with the business for another year or more then the £500 deal makes more sense.
2. If you don't trust Royal Mail management (who does?) then having the £500 / 6% now is sensible.
3. If you wanted out of the business ASAP - the £1,500 is most logical.
4. If you need money right now for whatever reason - then the £1,500 would be the most logical to take.
I assume they haven't given the option to vote on it as they want to make the overall vote as simple as possible and I would have thought the £500 deal is more logical to take for most people when you look at the facts, even though the £1,500 is psychologically enticing.
I initially preferred the £1,500 option, but I don't trust Thompson and co - I'd rather get the 6% of the deal cemented right now along with the £500 (2%) then we only have to trust Thompson to top us up 2% next year.

It’s almost the complete opposite now or what the union originally asked for.
10% no strings attached has become for most members ‘don’t care about pay just don’t want any strings.’

I don't do overtime nor have allowances. The 4% difference (ie 6%-as opposed to 2%) applied to the 10% contribution to pension from R.M amounts to £100 -claretandblue wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 18:49Are some people being deliberately thick as mince ? you get MORE with 6% this year as it is pensionable and flows through to Overtime.jtshocka wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 18:40It's a total shambles of a so called negotiation royal mail have got everything they went after any little bit they may have missed they will get next year . 6% and 500 you will get on allowance but top brass at cwu need to get the lump sum of 1500 hundred back to have any chance of getting a yes vote through what an absolute sell out of our loyal members

Re: 1500 back on table
So all it takes is the £1500 taxable lump sum to be dangled and people will bend over?

Re: 1500 back on table
It is a no from me ,
£1500 is only good for people who are definitaly leaving very soon ,
Trouble is people end up not leaving and moaning about the rubbish conditions they now have .
I have worked with a guy who kept moaning every day and saying he is leaving every day for 30 years ,
He eventually retired .

Overtime going forward I imagine with a agreement would be greatly reduced.
6% on OT payments is no way a given.

Re: 1500 back on table
I don't believe the £1500 is back on the table? Is it?
If not WTF are people going on about? We have to vote on the deal that is on the table not some Wishful Thinking!

Re: 1500 back on table
I'm dead against this deal and in my heart it's a big NO, however what realistically is going to happen if the majority vote no? I don't believe that RM will budge any further than they already have. The seasonal hours will never in a million years get removed and I don't believe there is a secret second deal including the £1500 with the 6% this year. I fear that a NO result will have repercussions and would probably need to be convinced otherwise before I just vote YES and stomach this dire deal.
What I do know is I'm definitely monitoring these seasonal hours. Im not actually that bothered if I have to work a little later through the week but it there is a shift on Saturdays (say after 3pm) then I'm going for my plan B and that is to go for my HGV class 2 licence. I do want to try and stay at RM for a while and don't ideally want to leave but weekends are very important to me and a lot of people and life is too short. I'm 50 now and I live for weekends as much as possible. I like my football, nights away with the wife which is just about possible still with a 2pm finish and if this change of hrs happens to not become an option or having any sort of a weekend anymore then it's sadly time to move on.

Re: 1500 back on table
I understand that some people need that 1500 but for me biger problem is 2% last and next year absolutely not acceptable.
We are getting s**t pay deal whit so many changes.
We are paying for payrise form our pocket.
RM smashed our sick policy

Re: 1500 back on table
The obvious way to go was 1500 and 6% this year and 2% next year when hopefully inflation is back to something like normal
