Need advice on Sunday working.

Hi everyone,
I have a 22.5 hour contract with Royal Mail. I was a regular postie up until about a year ago, but the skin on my hands kept splitting and becoming infected because of eczema and the doctor started signing me off.
I spoke to my manager about this, fearing for my job, and we came to the agreement that I would deliver LAT packets 3 evenings a week and all day Sunday, making up my 22.5 hours.
However, I have been advised that all other posties working a Sunday are paid extra to work on a Sunday, and I should be chasing up this extra payment, back dated to when I started this shift pattern.
I don't want to rock the boat, considering my manager has gone out of his way to keep me employed, but I'm constantly being nagged by others to chase up this Sunday payment.
Can anyone advise me on what action I should take please?

Surely you're not rocking the boat by inquiring about something that you are owed? Yes your manager helped keep you employed but they are obliged to pay you the Sunday premium also.

Its probably best to write a note to your book room querying this.

I'm sure they will be able to advise within a few days.

This way you bypass your line manager as well.

Get it sorted before any kind of change that may come if the deal gets voted in.

If it was the manager suggested the Sunday it should be at a higher rate, depends if u changed contract though when decreasing hours

Normal first 37 hours is paid at around £13.36 per hour (includes delivery supplement).
Normal Sunday rate is paid at around £14.50 per hour.

Anyone who does Sundays as part of their contract (YOU) gets paid around £18.50.

If you dont get it sorted you are losing £4 or £5 for every hour worked on a Sunday.

(1) Your manager helped you out getting you onto LATs & Sundays.
(2) You HELPED your manager out by doing the LATS & SUNDAYS.

When they changed us from 10am - 5pm to 1pm - 7pm on Sundays they cant get anyone to cover the shifts anymore. We were volunteers rotating the sundays amongst ourselves. They wouldnt even pay us the full Sunday premium because we did our contracted 37hours during the week and did o/t on Sunday.


Your manager has changed your shift with your agreement but obviously hasnt done it on PSP(?). You are not rocking any boat. You are only getting what you are entitled. I would also make sure it gets back dated.

£5.95 hr extra for contracted Sunday working. If you don't work every Sunday on your rota it will be worked out so you get the supplement every week even if you don't work Sunday that week and also on A/L weeks. This way it's a flat rate that doesn't change every week. Hope this helps.

If you're entitled to higher rate for Sunday work you are entitled to it, it's nothing to do with the manager, even if you feel he's helping you out. 2 way street.
