Bad agreement
Royal mail forced executive action on us why did we strike in first place when we had a so called legal agreement 4 pillars why did we not take them to court for a change it would have saved us all 1800 quid just a thought

Re: Bad agreement
Because the term 'legally binding agreement' in reality means jack s**t
Every agreement is adhered to until such time RM decide its no longer fit for their purposes and set out to get it replaced with another even more weighed in their favour
This one will be no different if it gets through

Re: Bad agreement
we called strike action before any executive action took place, but by calling strike action it opened up the legal door for them to do so written in the small print, hence operation blitzkrieg by them
yet another amateur mistake by those above, been a union man all my life and each year i wonder if the cwu couldn't get any worse but they always somehow manage it!
if this deal goes through, i'm outta of the union, no future for quite a while under these t&c

Re: Bad agreement
We used to have a third of our office on 9 day fortnight pattern. It was a really good work Life balance. Union talked all the part timers at our office into getting rid of it and all going onto one in six because more of them would be made ft.
Needless to say, more pt weren't made up to ft, we lost our 9 dayers. Walks that were 9 dayer had nothing changed so have been too long ever since. That was when I stopped paying the Union to mess things up. Over 10 yrs ago.

Re: Bad agreement
Is there a thread about the agreement between the CWU and Royal Mail?
I've looked but can't find one anywhere, except this.
I thought there would have a been a thread with hundreds of posts by now.

Re: Bad agreement
This deal is probably the worst one of a long, long, line of bad deals agreed by this union.
I think they feared Royal Mail ignoring them, would lead to the union top table high earners losing their gig, so have caved in to Royal Mail whilst pretending to be a bulwark between us, and a predatorial management structure.
I can see, however, and ironically for the CWU, that this deal could see thousands of members jacking their memberships, leaving the CWU in a parlous financial state, making the top table salaries untenable, unless they hike up subscription charges, which would see thousands more finally call it a day.
To be honest, even if I had a decade more to do, I wouldn't really want a job like this is becoming. If I was sacked, so be it, move on, get on with my life, and leave this nightmarish shitfest far, far, behind me.
I pity guys in their 20s and 30s working for these utter bastards.
Can you imagine what the bastards will demand of them, next time around?

Re: Bad agreement
I've been expecting to see Dave Ward live at 7pm for the last few evenings but not had an email so far.
I'm not on Facebook or Twitter so can't get any info that way.
When is the union going to explain why they came to their decision?
I have not heard anything from the union concerning the new unachievable walks that we now have to contend with every working day which management put in while talks were ongoing and I thought everything was supposed to have paused while these talks carried on?
And yet the union is asking us to accept this agreement.
It doesn't make any sense to me!

Re: Bad agreement
Does anyone know if the proposed 24 minutes seasonal flex will be at the start or finish of your duty?

Re: Bad agreement
I'm being a bit pedantic here but, 'Seasonal variation' and 'Flexibility' are different things.
In the maelstrom of information and rumour that has exploded since the proposed 'agreement'
was published, it's easy to get the two things mixed up.
It's in this link viewtopic.php?f=87&t=109637,
relevant quotes below:
.2.4 The first deployment of seasonal variation will be in Autumn 2023 and will require the
additional time to be worked before the standard duty current start times. The impact
of this will be reviewed to assess if it creates issues such as instances of running out
of work between wave 1 and wave 2 arrivals impacting indoor productivity.
1.2.5 In the first summer period 2024 the reduction in time for part timers will be at the end
of the duty enabling an earlier finish (by 10 mins). In order to keep shared van finish
times aligned the full timer finish time will also be 10 mins earlier and the start time
will be 14 mins later. This will also be reviewed after the initial pilot to see if the full
reduction in time can be from the end of the duty.
2. 30 Minutes Flexibility Agreement, meeting customers’ need
In parallel with the Seasonal Variation approach, we will also jointly review the approach to
the use of 30 minutes’ flexibility previously agreed in the 2007 Pay & Modernisation
Agreement and in line with the 2013 Joint Statement covering Fairness, Dignity & Respect in
Delivery. This joint review will be to understand how this approach can address workload
changes at a route level on a daily basis and develop a revised agreement which will support
the efficient delivery of the USO.
The review will gather information relating to how the existing policy is being applied and
what arrangements are in place in units, particularly where this approach has been
formalised and adopted. The review will also consider and determine how SI/SO data can be
used with applying this flexible arrangement. The review will conclude by the end of July
2023, and there will be a joint launch of a revised formalised approach to the 30 minutes’
flexibility agreement.

Re: Bad agreement
Everything stinks here the union had agreed with most of it probably weeks ago but they d they couldn't say anything ..The reason I guess is they would get the backlash they're getting now.why not tell us anything because legally they couldn't.rm have been playing dirty all through this.Get back in there get us a better deal that's what we pay you for. Because if you don't I'm afraid there be alot of us including me which I don't bwant leaving you.Im guessing a lot have left already .You guys must have read all the comments about the deal.we gave a 96% yes vote for strikes which you didn't implement. Now you'll get the same for a no vote to this deal
