Re: CWU London Division
Locally the Rep structure would remain, RM cannot and I repeat cannot derecognise the CWU in the workplace. We still have some union legal protection in this country that would prevent this.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 06:33Do you not see that by taking the reps out of all workplaces you are silencing the voice of all workers in any individual unit.hfcbkk1875 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 10:39The real question is why are trying sell us out.
Answer?
Because RM wanted to take the cwu out the workplace .
As Andy fury said "it a hostric deal and the cwu are back in the workplace "
Says it all really.sell out the staff so the cwu can keep a position in the workplace ...you then just become a workers association..
You lot should be ashamed to call your selves a union .
Vote no and remove rhe shitsters on pec .
We are all part of the union and the reps are our voice in workplace.
Very few if any industries have reps on every shop floor.
Life could be allot more uncomfortable if they were all removed.
Bullying and harassment would increase tenfold. It benefits every member to have a unionised workplace.
Maybe it's not everyone's experience but reps often succeed in reigning in power hungry overzealous managers.
We don't want that to stop, so it is a victory for us all.
It is disingenuous by Fury to say so, what he maybe referring to is automatic check off being removed, which would infer a cost to the CWU.
Local Reps/ area reps / Div Reps cost the CWU nothing as there wages and release are paid for by the business.i.e they are on the business pay roll
RM do not have to do this and wanted a slimmed down version which they put on the table. PEC & Div Rep jobs would go or be paid for by the CWU payroll.
Therefore Ward having led the CWU into a.serious financial postion due to failing to address the CWU officers pension Gravy train deficit was held to ransome by our employer. As this would lead to more CWU debt with the inability to sell SW19 there's nothing in the CWU account...this is the general sec and deputy gen secs depts fault..they have failed with the members money.. but we pay the price..Because
whilst the CWU continues with this cozy arrangement with the RM it will never be financially independent and therefore the gravy train ivory towers brigade will always be financially dependent on RM in order to make CWU ivory towers wheels go round.
Although locally Reps would always be in the room because they work and do the job and are entitled legally to release. Its just all the others that would be gravy less...hence Fury trying to protect CWU HQ with the misdirected comments of losing Reps in the workplace just wouldn't happen.
Note Mr Fury spent the pandemic in Dubai whilst the most of us put our lives at risk on the shop floor. He then has the affront to suggest we need to be in workplaces...ffs..

your first 2 two points are valid and i accept them. the families one however i can not. a business should not cater around someones schedule. it HAS to adapt for us all to have a future in the company. if that makes it unviable for some people who have familiy commitments then its sad but has to be done. there are not many jobs that will cater to your schedule of picking the kids upJen1 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 19:34Royal Mail currently only transports 6.6% of mail by airpost6675 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 19:04You think people care? there are alternatives to mail if a simple letter is taking days they are just going to find alternative means such as e mail or ringing. letters are not needed. making them worse will not be a good thing ,Jen1 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 18:52I didn’t realise that there was another company that delivers mail?!?!post6675 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 18:35people really do noy care about crbon footprint as much as they say they do , they will just go to whoever is dleivering quickest. all this would do is stop people using rmJen1 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 18:27I’m sorry I want an end to this dispute but…
With summers set to get hotter and our rounds have gotten bigger it’s madness to move our delivery times so we will be delivering at the hottest part of the day
I really don’t feel they’ve explored alternatives solutions
Has Royal Mail spoken with the government regarding the issue of mail arriving later due to no longer using airplanes?
Surely there could be some negotiation about mail coming from further afield, maybe an extra days grace on the delivery window
I mean if customers feel strongly enough about reducing carbon footprint then I don’t think they would object
So I’m sorry but I’m not going to vote yes to a deal that would be detrimental to my health
So really you don’t think it’s worth getting a concession for those 6.6% of letters?
You think it’s a much better plan to make make posties work in dangerous conditions??
Or to make it so this job will no longer be viable for young families or anyone with other commitments that don’t fit with the new schedule?

Apologies, I have been out for the majority of the day so didn't see your reply until now.hfcbkk1875 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 09:03There would still be reps in the do's and MCs.
They sold us out to protect the reps that sitt in office all day ...
What that would mean is the div reps and area reps would be back on the day job .but they would still be reps .
They just wouldn't be able to organise properly at national and area level .but that's the cwu fault they don't train there reps and educate them as they should .this is the very reason I'm not a rep and thank full now that I didn't touch the job after seeing what the cwu really think of us
Royal Mail's position was it was their business to run and theirs solely.
Taking people off duties they have signed for, ignoring seniority, issuing stages without a meeting, lapsing without agreement.
Revisions done solely on skewed PDA data, using technology to discipline people.
All this has been rolled back in the agreement and the union voice (your voice) remains strong.
This is what I was referring to.
There is a framework now that the company need to stick to.

Re: CWU London Division
I have a real issue with this because this was a job many people took up because of the schedule. Some people do evening work, like bar tending because it suits their schedule. Adverts for Royal Mail jobs around the time I started even pointed out how the hours at the time fitted in well for parents (9.30am - 2pm IIRC). It is a harsh punishment to all the staff who took those jobs, stayed, settled and continue to do a good job, to take away their core reason for doing it.post6675 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 10:47

The early hours are a big component of being a postie and changing that presents problems for a huge proportion of an established workforce. This is not a fair, considerate way to treat us to save a bit of money while we know they continue to award themselves plenty of dosh for coming up with stuff like this.

The union have got them down to 60 minutes later but still poses problem for those with childcare issues.
I doubt this sits well with the union but if the company are not budging then compromise is the only other option.
They company were also adamant on imposing later starts in the Autumn.
The Union have knocked it back to next March.
They will impose later starts with or without agreement it seems.
Doesn't change the fact it is very unfair on some people.
