If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
What happens to the union if the ballot on the agreement comes back as a resounding no? Are they finished? Will Royal Mail just impose even more change with less pay? Btw I think it’s a shocking deal and will be voting NO. £500 with no back pay with these new conditions is a complete an utter insult. Seriously considering withdrawing my union subs after it.

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
I think that the company will impose the deal anyway minus the £500 and after say a year they could begin imposing further changes, the union would be so weakened that they will be unable to do much about it.
What do No voters expect to happen? say the union leadership resign en masse, do the No voters have a credible plan to take the control of the union themselves and then organise another ballot?

Why the hell do they think they reach an agreement and if one side fails in this respect why would they continue. To respect that agreement you must expect this for this is why we pay people to do negotiation on our behalf some on here think think they can do better?

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
I believe they can only impose some of the things they want, as some of it including sick pay are contractual, but they could impose anything they want on new starters. If I were cynical I could say the Union are selling out its existing members just so they can protect future subs of future members.robking wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 20:55I think that the company will impose the deal anyway minus the £500 and after say a year they could begin imposing further changes, the union would be so weakened that they will be unable to do much about it.

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
If we vote no, the CWU will have to engage seriously with their members about what the biggest concerns are.
Maybe not the big ticket "financial viability" items like pay or later start times. But the rest of the small print horror show.
They then go back and get a better deal. Ball's in RM's court.

Just don't want a manager doing PDA "perfmance management" on me, or sacking me for being sick twice in a year.
Or is that stuff essental so RM don't go bust?

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
As stated on here it was the Company who needed the agreement.£1.7bill would only be available if they had a deal.
I hope that is the case still.
I presume they put a statement out to the market now before it all potentially goes t*it's up before the May statement in the hope share price increases for bonus season and to make it look rosy for the end of the year.
So there is still potential that RM have to go crawling back with no deal and explain why they are yet further behind.
Yes they can impose stuff but they could of done that anyway.
The only slight leverage we have still is that RM absolutely need an agreement more then us right now.

But even though we might not get that agreement in the time it is better a good agreement should prevail.

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
Really???? A naive view. I think RM will withdraw the offer and impose as many of the changes as they can. They will say to the CWU " ok call a strike, we'll go into administration and make thousands redundant and shred the current T&Cs" The government don't care about people dying through industrial action in the NHS so they certainly won't worry about undelivered letters and parcels. I watched RM video with the three RM senior managers answering questions about the deal. For the first time there was no boasting, no gloating, no taunting. The body language was subdued and serious.sindba wrote: ↑22 Apr 2023, 22:18If we vote no, the CWU will have to engage seriously with their members about what the biggest concerns are.
